I have to change little details, but the motif is recognizable☕️☕️
Ich muss noch Kleinigkeiten ändern, aber man kann das Motiv erkennen☕️☕️

FInally, some sunshine! ☀️ Saturday was so beautiful that I just had to head outside to weave. My loyal bodyguard was with me the whole time – when he wasn’t guarding, he was jumping around 🐾 And today? Back inside again. 😭🧶🏡

Wir weben grade Löcher! 🕳️🕳️🕳️

That’s a rare sight: cutting into a tablet-woven band.
How did that happen? 😱
I wove about 10 cm of the pattern with a mistake and decided to restart.
But then... I also forgot to leave enough warp length for tassels.
In the end the only option to get it back was to undo the first, unsuccessful section.
That blue thread running across is the weft. It isn’t visible in the finished band, but it is essential. It interlaces the warp threads, which is in fact the definition of woven fabric.
🌟 I wrote more about this little experiment in a post on Patreon (open to everyone, link in bio).

New pattern coming on Friday night! 🙂 At last, it’s finished — and I’m exceptionally happy with this tutorial.
Maybe it’s because it features one of my favourite techniques: two-hole tablet weaving. It’s simple in design, yet produces very elegant, sleek, and airy weaves. It does come with some technical challenges, but as with everything, practice makes perfect.
More information about the tutorial can be found via the link (see tonight’s story for a clickable version, or copy this into your bowser: https://wicistore.etsy.com/listing/4453678501).
Happy weaving! 💚💛

🪵 About tablets. I use wooden ones, 6×6 cm, 1–1.5 mm thick. I find this size the best for my hands. They were made by an artisan friend; he uses oak, rosewood, walnut, and other types of plywood. I don’t see how they could ever break. I might have about 200 tablets in total.
🎩 A pro tip: use different-coloured tablets to your advantage in weaving. For example, I mark border or central tablets in a pattern. This helps me identify more quickly which tablets to turn in a given pick.
🤔 I have never woven using plastic tablets because I learnt tablet weaving in a historical reenactment setting and, what’s more, I believe plastic simply doesn’t pair well with wool and a wooden inkle loom. Let me know what you think and what tablets you use. Happy to chat!

Aaand here is my favourite part of tablet weaving! Learning how to turn the cards to create this braid pattern!
I know the video is rather quick, but I think I'll post the youtube-video tomorrow rather than on Tuesday, so it'll be easier to follow along and pause. This tutorial is very much meant to work with by watching a few seconds, pausing, and repeating what you just saw.
Again, thank you ever so much for your kind words and encouragement, and an extra thank you to all sweet souls who made my birthday lighter by talking about the good things you do for the world. Keep being awesome! All my love! ❤️❤️❤️
Learn to weave with me!!!
I’ve been really feeling the call of the loom this year and managed to pick myself up this little weaving set from vinted! This is just a practice piece and it’s definitely not perfect, but I can’t wait to make more!
