When kids are going through something hard, it can be tough to know what to say. Books can help start those conversations. These stories support kids navigating anxiety, grief, daily fears, self confidence, how to support friends, and more. Stories have a powerful way of helping kids understand their feelings and feel less alone. Let me know if you’d like more of a look inside one of these books. Save this for later if your family ever needs it. 💕 Books shown: Ruby Finds a Worry By Tom Percival Published by Bloomsbury Books The Whatifs Written by Emily Kilgore Illustrated by Zoe Persico Published by Little Bee Books Perfectly Norman By Tom Percival Published by Bloomsbury Not Perfect Written by Maya Myers Illustrated by Hyewon Yum Published by Neal Porter Books Sometimes All I Need is Me By Juliana Perdomo Published by Candlewick Press Beneath By Cori Doerrfeld Published by Little Brown Books The Heart and the Bottle By Oliver Jeffers Published by Philomel Books The Hole Written by Lindsay Bonilla Illustrated by Brizida Magro Published by Nancy Paulsen Books/Penguin The Rabbit Listened By Cori Doerrfeld Published by Dial Books Me and My Fear By Francesca Sanna Published by Flying Eye Books #booksandbooks #grief #anxiety #selfconfidence #loss

These books remind children that their feelings matter, provide natural opportunities for talking about feelings, and remind them that they are already enough. If you’re looking for picture books that support social-emotional learning, this list is a great place to start. 🤍 • • • #kidsbooks #kidslit

Many of these picture books list ages 3-7; 4–8, but I think it’s really subjective! I started reading a lot of these with my kids at age 3, and there are plenty we’ll keep long past the ‘recommended’ age. It’s more about your child’s interest than the number. If the text feels long, you can always paraphrase and still get so much from the story. **My kids current ages : 4 & 5
Books I read my kids for a magical childhood ✨ ( Part 10 ) *Comment MAGIG for a link to the full list!* These are the stories that slow us down, spark imagination, and turn ordinary moments into something special. The kind of books that invite wonder, rich language, and cozy connection - ones I reach for again and again with my own kids. As a pediatric SLP, I love how these stories naturally support vocabulary, story comprehension, and meaningful conversation without ever feeling like “work.” Just beautiful books, shared together. Books are such a powerful way to teach children the things they need to know — especially the ones that can feel a little tricky to explain. Topics like emotions, consent, safety and friendships aren’t always easy to bring up… but stories give children a safe and simple way to understand them. These types of books help open up conversations, build understanding and give children the language they need to express themselves. Such a valuable addition to any home or classroom 🤍

Still processing it somedays! But I’m so excited to see my own book sitting on the library shelf 🥹🤍 …for my kids, for your kids, for all of us living in the chaos and magic of it. This series was meant to be one big hug for anyone who’s ever been or currently in the thick of parenting! 💝

I discovered @maistorybooklibrary a few weeks ago and I’m completely obsessed with her content. Her children’s book suggestions align so beautifully with my focus on spreading kindness within the nanny industry. Books are such a powerful way to nurture empathy, inclusion, and kindness in the next generation. What makes Ms Mai’s library personally stand out to me is because: 🌈 Inclusive representation of many cultures and identities 👨‍👩‍👧 Family-centered storytelling 📖 Encouraging empathy, kindness, and understanding through books Isn’t that amazing?! Make sure to follow her! #readingwithchildren #todayareadertomorrowaleader #childrensbook
