Some Stories don’t need big stages… sometimes they are born on a NUKKAD among real people and real emotions. 🎭✨
Created this small tribute reel celebrating the heart, hustle, and honesty of independent cinema "NUKKAD NATAK".
More power to stories that dare to begin. ❤️

Hola cinephiles & art supporters!
Our hearts are filled with joy & gratitude with Nukkad Natak’s screening in Navi Mumbai
Last Sunday, we witnessed the power of community.
Seeing Tanmaya Shekhar’s vision and Molshri’s performance move from the streets to the silver screen was a dream realized—not just for us, but for every independent artist fighting for a seat at the table.
We would like to thank everyone who joined Project Kalakriti to support indie cinema without the “big distribution” safety net.
Major shoutout to Abhishek Shetye, Chandar, Husain, Ashutosh, Lakshay & Navjot & team that supported us virtually.

No hoardings.
No paid ads.
No permissions.
Just filmmakers, music, and the streets of Mumbai.
This Sunday, the team behind Nukkad Naatak took their film from Versova to Marine Drive—
singing, talking, listening, and turning everyday streets into a moving cinema hall.
This wasn’t promotion.
This was connection.
Cinema, straight from the streets.

“It’s a gift to be made by the art you make.” - Sumi Mathai
@othermathai was working in advertising when her short film was selected by a grant programme organised by Mumbai Film Festival, receiving a Special Jury Mention which gave her the belief and momentum to pursue filmmaking.
Her next short film, Ullarivu (The Awakening), was a crash course in independent filmmaking, but a rewarding one, screening at various film festivals and being selected as the 16D16F 2025 Winner!
She’s now working on her first feature film, weaving together drama and magical realism, and a superhero series which blends mythology, popular culture, and feminism.
Follow @16days16films to keep up with the rest of the series, and to be the first to know when submissions open for 2026.
