An oldie but a goodie… I wrote this song at 22 (almost 23) years old in the spring of 2003. I was in my room and had just drank some Goldschlager (which is the sole reason I can never chew Big Red gum again, but that was a different time, not this instance) picked up the guitar and this guy just came out. Ended up recording it with my band at the time Shoeless Joe down in Brazil, Indiana. I bust it out from time to time, this happens to be one of those times… “The Perils of Being Bored and Lonely” #Acoustic #originalmusic #thanksforyoursupport

This is a song of mine I’m real fond of. It’s about quiet pains that people carry around day-to-day that they don’t talk about. It’s been called a “downer,” but I dunno, life ain’t all sunshine and roses & I think those moments need songs, too. The arrangement’s gone through some changes since I first wrote it as I’ve engaged with the text more. Notably, “The Brian Wilson trick,” which I am getting quite fond of. Got a good friend coming in to do the final vocal on this - my vocals here are the “scratch”/guide vocals (I don’t think my voice delivers “country” vibes and I think this song need a bit of that) #originalmusic #guitarmusic #guitar #countryrock #countryrockmusic

I swear this song ages like fine wine. I love stripping it down acoustic because it is so smart and urgent, beneath all the 80’s synths and animated MTV video. If you’ve got something to say to anyone you want and love, say it now, mean it now, don’t wait. Thank you a-ha 🙏🏻 #acousticcover
