Hello! Today I’m showing you my collection of Evelyn Ackerman art that I have in my home. I have been a fan of all of what the Ackermans both produced during their fascinating lives. They were really pioneers of the California modern era😃 I was even lucky enough to have visited their home a few years ago. But none of what I’m showing you here is what I purchased at their house at that estate sale. I will do a second video showing you some of the personal items I bought there. The art at the sale either went really fast or it was a little out of my price range, but in the past years I’ve been able to purchase items and make my own collection that I am very proud of. Enjoy! **************** #midmodflair#midmod#ackerman#artist#midcenturydesign#midcentury#midcenturyartist#evelynackerman#evelynackermantapestry#mosaics#ackermanmodern @ackermanmodern

This just came out of an estate where one of the parents first worked for Panelcarve and then Forms And Surfaces. They used these 4 Evelyn Ackerman designed Ucello panels as a screen to close off the living room and the hallway leading to the bedrooms. Even though they worked for both companies for several years, these were the only pieces in the estate. The 4 hand carved redwood panels are attached by double hinges with an additional 3" redwood panel that was used to affix the system to the door jam where it was originally installed - currently working on removing all the cobwebs. 🙃 Each panel measures 84" high, 9" wide and 5/6" thick. I'll admit, it's a wee bit too high to be used as a screen on the ground. Going to see about mounting it somewhere in the shop. Each is in excellent condition, beautifully handcrafted and available to be seen in person at the shop. DM with any questions. #ackerman #evelynackerman #panelcarve #californiamodern #santabarbaracalifornia

Katie Nartonis has her own unique story of what brought her and boyfriend, Phil to the wild mojave. What makes their circumstances somewhat uncommon, was what Katie describes as an almost deafening voice, calling her here from Los Angeles just moments before the pandemic. They followed the ping, or rather, the Joshua Tree Voice, trusting their instincts and finding themselves sheltered, held and supported while the world stood still. With a background in art history, film and in the auction business, Katie didn’t know quite what to expect and was surprised and gracias when the desert began to yield opportunities she described as lean even in LA. She foraged a relationship with Lisa that later when onto to seeding the idea for the book, ‘Glimpse of the Josha Tree Dream’, of which Katie is the writer. She’s also spending time on a new film project and curating arts shows currently in the high desert. Phil, a custom metal-worker, artist and antique dealer has found a niche himself that in many ways surpassed the throws of LA’s scene as well, offering something inspired and tangible complete with a community that prides it’self in solidarity. The two are happy to call home one of Yucca Mesa’s oldest properties, a 1938 era bungalow.
