No, Mom, today I prefer cuddles and peace and quiet (it only lasts 5 minutes😂).

This is the exercise to encourage because most parrots, like ziki the parrotlet, quickly figure out how to cheat their horizontal recall flights. They’ll push off and glide across the room, using forward speed to keep lift, flutter a little and save energy. Just enough effort to reach the target. It looks impressive, but it’s mostly coasting and braking, an easy workout for ziki.
⬆️When ziki flies vertically, though, there’s no shortcut. It takes maximum effort.
Every wing flap sweeps fully from top to bottom, engaging all of his major flight muscles which must create lift greater than his entire body weight just to keep rising. It makes his 9 air sacs expand and contract more fully, pushing more fresh air through his lungs and clearing out old lingering air and dust.
🫁💪❤️
Ziki is free roaming all day but this upward flight is the one i think really builds strength and his overall respiratory and heart fitness. I see it as the best flight to encourage for exercise.

One is combing my hair other is brushing my teeth, and I’m the kid here getting ready for school.
