40,000 pounds of food has delivered to Solano County families in need. It’s part of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints’ Just Serve effort, bringing 250 truckloads to places in all 50 states in celebration of America’s 250th anniversary. About 1,300 cases of canned and packaged food will now be distributed to more than a dozen nonprofit organizations, including food banks, shelters, and soup kitchens. Recipients are in Vacaville, Fairfield, Suisun City, Dixon and Woodland in Yolo County.

Inspired by the biblical account of Jesus feeding the multitudes with two fish and five loaves, this ministry has been faithfully serving families since 2002 with a mission rooted in faith and compassion. Every Saturday, they provide fresh produce, meat, dairy, bread, and pantry items to families in the Cainhoy, Wando, and Huger communities, distributing more than 300,000 pounds of food each year through the generosity of volunteers and donors.
