Our poster uses the following font and artwork: STAR (Sweet Transvestite Radical Action) font from the GenderFail font library, a library of public access fonts collated from plaques, posters and banners from moments of radical action and protest throughout history. There is no + character in the font, so we have left it off the poster. “Reading Is Transcendental”, 2024, BY Chris E. Vargas: “wallpaper designed for the gender-neutral bathrooms at ICA LA for the show “Scientia Sexualis” curated by Jennifer Doyle and Jeanne Vaccaro. Inspired by the real bookshelves of artist and MOTHA Executive Director Chris E. Vargas’s friends and co-conspirators, this poster acts as syllabus for and homage to the sprawling, unwieldy canon of transgender studies.” Reel description: The LGBT+ history month book display
The library is named after Rick Miller, a man who's been involved with LGBTQ organizations for decades.
