“Ya Rasulullah… how do I know
if he/she is the one for me?”
Because today—
we don’t just feel love.
We overthink it.
We question it.
We fear choosing wrong.
“What if I get attached…
and it breaks me?”
“What if this isn’t written for me?”
“What if I miss
the right person?”
But the Prophet ﷺ
didn’t teach us
to chase certainty in people—
He taught us
to seek guidance from Allah.
He ﷺ said:
“If one of you is concerned
about a decision,
let him pray two rak‘ahs
other than the obligatory prayer,
then say… (full dua in pinned comment)”
And he taught us
Salat al-Istikhara.
→ (Sahih al-Bukhari 6382)
Meaning—
you don’t have to figure
everything out alone.
You ask the One
who already knows the outcome.
Because what’s meant for you…
will not confuse you endlessly.
It may test you.
It may take time.
But it won’t pull you away
from Allah.
And Allah says:
“Perhaps you love a thing
and it is bad for you,
and perhaps you hate a thing
and it is good for you.
Allah knows,
and you do not know.”
→ (Qur’an 2:216)
So maybe the question is not—
“Are they the one?”
Maybe it’s—
“Is this bringing me closer to Allah…
or further away?”
Because the right person…
won’t just hold your hand
in this dunya—
they will help you reach Jannah.
✨ “Ya Allah… if they are good for me, bring them closer.
And if not, remove them from my heart gently.”
Because what Allah writes for you—
will never require you
to lose yourself to keep it.
