Making this move made me feel like I was being selfish. Changing my kids life for the sake of our business. Was this fair on them?   Before we moved, I lost sleep over one thing more than any other. Not the business. Not the house. Not the move itself. Whether the girls would adapt and be okay. Were we making the right decision? I never thought in a million years I would be unenrolling them from one of the best schools on the Gold Coast and moving them across the world.   Pulling them out of a school they’d been at for years. Their friends, their teachers, their routine, all staying behind. And no way to promise them anything about what came next.   We did what we could to make sure it was a smooth transition. We carefully selected their school. We wanted to make sure it had somewhat a resemblance to the core values of their old school. Goodbyes were hard as they were worried about how they would make new friends and if students would be accepting of them.    They just finished their first week. And I’m going to tell you something I didn’t expect. They have adapted to this new chapter and new school faster than we have. They have formed immediate friendships with their classmates. Coming home with stories and facetiming their new friends because school wasn’t long enough.   Watching them handle this reminded me that kids are so much more resilient than we give them credit for. . 🎒 バッグは自由！ 指定バッグがない学校も多く、リュックでもランドセルでもOK。 でもランドセルには憧れがあり、２年生の時に購入して１年だけ使ってました！ やめた理由はものが入らない😂 🚃 一条校じゃないと学割が使えない！？ 日本のインターナショナルスクールの多くは、学校教育法上の「一条校」ではなく「各種学校」などに分類されています。 そのため、学校に通っていても鉄道会社の通学定期などで、一般的な学生向けの割引が適用されない場合があります😳 毎日の通学だから、これ意外と大きい…！ 特に子供料金を卒業すると…恐ろしい！！ 🚌 スクールバス通学が多い 広いエリアから通っている子も多いので、スクールバスがある学校も多いです🚌 もちろん、学校や地域・交通機関によって違いがあります😊特に大使館エリアだと東京中のインターのバス見かけます。 International school things? 🌏🏫 Getting to school can be pretty different in Japan! 🎒 Any school bag is OK 🚃 No student discount unless it’s an accredited Japanese school 🚌 School buses are pretty common Every school is different, though! Ik krijg veel vragen over de kosten van internationale scholen in Thailand. Wij betalen €360 per maand. Dat is hier in Hua Hin een gebruikelijk tarief voor veel internationale basisscholen. Dat is natuurlijk heel anders dan de (vrijwel) gratis school die we in Nederland gewend zijn. Daar krijgen we wel een kleinschalige school voor terug, met klassen van 8 kinderen en veel persoonlijke aandacht. Daarnaast zijn er dingen inbegrepen waar je in Nederland extra kosten voor maakt, zoals uitjes, lunch, zwemles en sportactiviteiten na school. Ook kan je kinderen hier langer brengen: van 08.15 tot 16.00 uur (of later als ze meedoen aan sportactiviteiten). Het blijft een persoonlijke afweging, maar wij zijn heel blij met deze school!
