The essence of a Greek summer in Tinos. 💙 Tinos feels like a slower, more grounded side of the Cyclades • a local favorite, sun-washed villages, long lunches that stretch into the afternoon, and beaches where the day unfolds without much planning. With over 40 villages there are many quiet coves and little corners to explore. Mornings by the sea at Kolymbithra. Afternoons along the serene shores of Apigania or Agios Sostis. Long lunches at O Ntinos or Maḯstros taverna, right by the sea. A sunset pilgrimage just in time to hear the bells ring and watch the citrus light blanket the Aegean from the top of Kardiani. Tinos is one of the Cyclades’ best kept secrets, and those who make the trip quickly understand why it feels unlike anywhere else in Greece. Just a short ferry ride from Mykonos, the island feels worlds apart. No mega clubs, no cruise ship crowds. What you find instead are over 40 traditional villages scattered across the hills, each with its own character. Pyrgos is a living monument to marble craftsmanship, with working studios and workshops where artists still practice their craft today. Kardiani offers breathtaking views with lush greenery tucked into quiet lanes. And Volax is something else entirely: a surreal plateau of enormous ancient boulders that give the landscape an almost lunar quality. The food scene consistently surprises visitors. Family-run tavernas serve fresh seafood, local cheese, and slow-cooked lamb, while a boutique winery produces bottles from vines grown in volcanic soil among the boulder formations. One of the more unique wine experiences in the Aegean. When I said Greek Islands, @GreeceInsiders.Travel knew exactly what I was looking for. Naxos. Relaxed and luxurious, raw and charming. Traditional villages, rugged coastlines giving way to endless beaches, mountainous terrain, historic sites, and white washed villas beckoning guests to stay for awhile - this is a Greek island for everyone. Fewer crowds and more of an authentic feel, you live and breathe the experience, instead of feeling detached and sold to. Thanks to @GreeceInsiders.Travel, my days consisted of a food tour across delightful villages hosted by a gregarious guide from @NaxosCulturalTours who loaded both our bellies and our hands full of the most delicious local treats; a private catamaran sail with @Naxos.Yachting.Catamarans around the island to explore the stunning coastline and a dip in the turquoise waters; and lounging at picture perfect Maragkas Beach, steps away from my hotel @Sundunes_Naxos (a member of @SquareLimeHospitality). By the way, I had a 2 story villa at Sundunes with spectacular sunset views. Why Greece is so good in June Another recent booking ✔️ A couple heading to Skiathos in June, staying at the lovely Skiathos Princess Resort. June is such a great time to visit the Greek islands. You get all the sunshine and warm evenings you’d expect, but without the intense heat or peak-summer crowds that July and August can bring. Everything is open, the atmosphere is lively but still relaxed, and it’s a wonderful time to enjoy beach days, boat trips and long dinners by the sea. Skiathos is a brilliant choice as well, beautiful beaches, a really charming harbour town and plenty of lovely restaurants and bars to wander between in the evenings. For couples in particular, it’s a fantastic early-summer escape.
