📍Kattankudy- Sri Lanka 🇱🇰 Stepping into Kattankudy felt like entering a vibrant tapestry of culture and history. This lively town on Sri Lanka’s east coast is known for its rich Islamic heritage and warm, welcoming spirit. One of the highlights for me was visiting the breathtaking Al Aqsa Mosque. Inspired by the Dome of the rock in Jerusalem (Al Quds), this architectural marvel with its golden dome and stunning details took my breath away. We also visited the Heritage Museum of Kattankudy, which beautifully tells the story of the Muslim and Arab communities in Sri Lanka. From ancient coins to traditional clothes, every corner of the museum brings the past to life. But what made Kattankudy truly unforgettable was the people. Some local friends took me and my son on a motorcycle ride around town, showing us the heart of their community — the busy streets, the mosques, the markets, the everyday life. Afterward, they welcomed us into their home with so much warmth, treating us to delicious traditional snacks and authentic Sri Lankan tea. It was one of those simple, beautiful moments that makes traveling so special. If you’re exploring Sri Lanka’s east coast, make sure to spend some time in Kattankudy — a place full of stories, kindness, and unforgettable memories. #Kattankudy #SriLanka #AlAqsaMosque #HeritageMuseum #CulturalJourney #TravelSriLanka #EastCoastSriLanka #TravelMemories
