Went JB & did a little café hop in Taman Melodies ☕ Otto Café @ottocafejb was quite a win — aesthetic space, comfy vibes, & decent food. Date Café @datecafe.jb is new (opened in Dec 2025) & very popular, but honestly the mains didn’t impress us as much as expected. Cheesecake and drinks though? Pretty good. 🏆 #foodtimesrollTopPick LATEST AESTHETIC CAFE IN JOHOR BAHRU SERVING CREATIVE, FUSION-FORWARD PLATES 😋🍽️☕ Chances are you’ve seen their brick-red terracotta facades and cosy interiors on social media. OTTO Cafe is the newest aesthetic café in JB. It opened just a few months ago and it’s already packed with fans. The dish you can’t skip here is the **Soft Shell Crab Toast** (RM 35) 👍. The dish features a sourdough crowned with curried egg mayo, crisp nori crackers, and soft-shell crab. The dish was as mouthwatering as it is photogenic. I would also recommend trying the **Golden Salmon Fillet** (RM 38) 👍. The salmon had a perfect texture — crispy skin and tender, flaky flesh. It was served with tangy coconut Tom Kha that whets the appetite. On the side, there was creamy mash and sliced papaya. I thought it was a showcase of Thai flavours done right. We also tried the **Mum’s Aglio Olio** (RM 38), which comes topped with three plump and fresh prawns. We also got two sides to share. I found the **Loaded Tater Tots with Ranch and Chipotle** (RM 24) pretty addictive. The **Crispy Cauliflower with Sour Plum Dust and Almond Flakes** (RM 23) divided opinions. I found the batter a bit too crunchy and the sour flavour too strong, though my friends liked it it. We got a slice of the **70% Chocolate Mousse Cake** (RM 26) to share. The cake was rich and decadent, though a touch more bitterness would have made it even better. If you are looking to get a drink, the **Roasted Brown Rice** (RM 18) 👍 is pretty unique. It tastes like milk left after soaking cornflakes — lightly sweet with a toasty note. Overall, it’s easy to see why this café is gaining popularity. Great location, spacious and photogenic interiors, tasty food, and warm, friendly staff. Definitely worth a visit on your next JB trip. 📍OTTO Cafe @ottocafejb 🇲🇾 Johor Bahru
