Kolli Hills is one of the beautiful places, situated in Namakkal District of the state of Tamil Nadu. This beautiful location is referred to as the Kolli Malai, and it means the ‘Mountains of Death.

The mountains are over almost 1000 to 1300 meters in height and cover an area of approximately 280 km.
.
According to legend, the sages chose Kolli hills when they were looking for a peaceful place to do their penance. However, the demons invaded the hills to disrupt the penance when the sages began their rituals. The sages prayed to Kollipavai, who according to the myth, chased away the demons with her enchanting smile.

கொல்லிமலை தமிழ்நாட்டின் நாமக்கல் மாவட்டத்தில் அமைந்துள்ள அழகிய இடங்களில் ஒன்றாகும். இந்த அழகான இடம் கொல்லி மலை என்று குறிப்பிடப்படுகிறது, மேலும் இது ‘மரண மலைகள்’ என்று பொருள்படும்.

புராணத்தின் படி, முனிவர்கள் தவம் செய்ய அமைதியான இடத்தைத் தேடியபோது கொல்லிமலையைத் தேர்ந்தெடுத்தனர். இருப்பினும், முனிவர்கள் தங்கள் சடங்குகளைத் தொடங்கும் போது தவத்தை சீர்குலைக்க அரக்கர்கள் மலைகளின் மீது படையெடுத்தனர். தன் மயக்கும் புன்னகையால் அசுரர்களை விரட்டிய கொல்லிப்பாவையை முனிவர்கள் வேண்டினர்.
