‘Guardians of the Wild’. Painted for @imaginefrankston. Thank you to @rebecca_gendron1 and @iambokitty and the legendary team. I’m grateful for this chance to enter the Australian mural festival scene with a banger of a wall and got to play with a 60ft knuckle boom again. - When I first heard a yellow-tailed black cockatoo, it felt like time stopped. I felt so drawn to find them, just to catch a glimpse. Their magic feels the same every time they fly over and I hear their calls. Glossies are my partner’s favourite, they’re rare nowadays, seeing them together in the wild was something special. Black cockatoos have found a place in both of our hearts. We visited @featheredfriendsbirdsanctuary , where they educate people on how quickly these birds are losing their habitat across Australia and how little time is left for them. So I’ve known for a while that I wanted to create something that could help make them more visible. What is loved is cared for. The birds in this mural are baby black cockatoos I photographed at this sanctuary, where they are lovingly being raised and prepared for rewilding. Australia still holds so much wildness, I hope it can protect it and keep its spirit guardians alive. - #savetheblackcockatoos #glossyblackcockatoo #kitsunejolene #kitsunejolene
