The Longfeng Qipao, a signature style of cheongsam tied to the glamour of Shanghai, is renowned for its elegant lines that accentuate the beauty of the female form. In SOUND OF SHANGHAI, this iconic garment transforms into a symbol of expression, paired with a female chanting group.

Cheongsam, or Qipao, is a traditional wearing of Chinese women which takes inspiration from the ethnic clothing of Manchu people.
As a representative of Shanghai-style cheongsam which emphasizes the beauty of woman‘s curve, the Longfeng cheongsam traces back to the reign of China’s Qing Dynasty Emperor Qianlong (1736-1795).
In 2011, the hand-making crafts of Longfeng cheongsam was listed as one of the national-level intangible cultural heritages. In the same year, the Longfeng cheongsam amazed the whole world during an international cultural heritage expo held at the Louvre Museum in Paris.
Jiang Manzong, born in 1966 in Jingjiang City of east China‘s Jiangsu Province, is the fourth-generation inheritor of the hand-making crafts of Longfeng cheongsam. Jiang has been engaging in making Chinese costume and cheongsam for nearly 40 years.

Sometimes - the things that happen in my life seem like something out of a movie. The fact that they are real, and I get to say I did them, blows my mind 🤯 Like this performance from @burningman. I got to perform my Aerial Pentagram act on a double-headed dragon art car @longfengartcar on Burn Night right after the man finished burning ❤️🔥🐉🐲🐦🔥🔥
I have always done the movements and performances I do because of the way I feel when I am doing it. I absolutely love aerial, dance, spinning, and finding a flow state. To be so fully present and connected to my body is such a fleeting gift. The fact that people want to watch me do any of this stuff is wild to me - but I am endlessly appreciative of the opportunities to share my passions with the world 💗
In these moments I usually find myself fighting back tears of joy, because it is just so overwhelming to get to experience such magnificent moments 🥹 Typically alongside immense appreciation for any struggles leading up to them, as it finally feels as if the challenge was worthwhile 💪🏼My path forward in life always seems more clear afterwards, as I feel it in my soul that this is what I am supposed to be doing. For as long as my body will let me, and as long as people want to see it 💞 I will never take these experiences for granted. They become core memories for me every time!
Huge thanks to @fireniceentertainment for making these magical moments possible ❣️🙏 They are so impactful, and this performance definitely reignited a passion for performing inside me ❤️🔥 I cannot wait for all the upcoming performances I have, and already looking forward to next burn! I can definitely say the Playa provided exactly what I needed this year.
HUGE thanks to @driftmobilemassage for this insane footage from the top of the art car 🎥🤘🏻😈 and for making sure it got to me, you are incredible 💗
