Do you use lake golf balls? I do, and have done so for many, many years. These @titleist Pro V1’s are every bit as good as brand new balls but at least £15 a dozen cheaper!

Recently, @mailordergolf sent me out a box of the On Par Distance Max golf balls to take a closer look at. These budget balls are only £12.99 for 12 (via TikTok store) and might be the perfect option for golfers on a budget, looking for a cheap and cheerful winter golf ball, or those with slower swing speeds.
•
My first impressions out of the box weren’t great. There appeared to be slight discolouration between the balls, they felt a bit hard and just generally cheap. However, keen not to judge a book by its cover, I grabbed my @flightscopegolf Mevo Gen 2 launch monitor and my 8 iron, and hit all 12 in my practise net.
•
Interestingly, they actually felt quite nice off the club face and much softer than I expected them to. However, the data confirmed my suspicions that they would be considerably inferior to my usual @titleist PRO V1. When the data was compared, the On Par the average ball speed and carry distances were considerably down, spin was up and the smash factor lower.
•
Whilst I didn’t test with other clubs, I can see from the data that these balls aren’t for me. However, at a quarter of the price of a PRO V1 and at just over £1 a ball, they’ll definitely appeal to some golfers out there.
•
If you’re interested in checking them out, head over to my TikTok account (@andysgolfblog) or drop me a message and I’ll send you the link.

Need to thank @mailordergolf for sending me out this meandmygolf impact bag which is going to help save me from breaking my wrists hitting this tyre
.
Apparently back in the day hitting a tyre with your iron was a good way of training as it has multiple benefits from doing so
.
One thing that isn’t a benefit is the wrist injuries that can come with hitting a tyre.. which actually is what Bryson was struggling with and I recently watched a video of him hitting a tyre as hard as he could repeatedly during a training session
.
Another thing is that having access to a spare tyre isn’t that common so an impact bag is a much easier way to train
.
This impact bag that I have from mailordergolf is one that you fill with whatever you want to fill it with so you can make it as soft or as hard as you like (it Is recommended to use towels or something similar to that) I only had one towel in it here which is probably why it flew half the length of the garden but if you weigh it down more then It won’t move as much
