Opening this week on April 1st for the season is one of the hidden gems on the Main Line, Chanticleer Garden. I truly believe it is the most magical place on the Main Line for visitors of all ages. We are so lucky to have it in our backyard. @chanticleergarden is one of the most treasured and beautiful botanical gardens in the area and perhaps in the country. Chanticleer dates back to the early 20th century when the Rosengarten family purchased 50 acres in the Wayne/St David’s area of the Main Line to build their country retreat. Following Mr Rosengarten’s death in 1990, the entire property was left to the public for enjoyment and education. Every time I visit, there are new places, corners, hidden spots, pathways, flowers, plants, scents, colors and textures that are newly discovered, breathtaking and awe-inspiring. As I exit the baby and toddler years, this concept is truly something that I have only recently been able to grasp and find helpful👆 As I care for their childhood, I’m living my motherhood. Being a martyr and having no needs won’t help them as much as my mind and body urgently tell me it will. Parenting isn’t a technique. It’s not a concept to perfect. It’s truly something that I believe no one can really be an “expert” in. It’s a relational, always unfolding experience. It’s a mutual journey, so remembering that we have needs and that our experiences matter too will ultimately only be helpful for them 🥹❤️ But it’s worth repeating that I have only just recently found myself with any kind of capacity to even consider what my own needs are when it comes to motherhood. If you are in the thick of things with the sleep deprived baby years, please know that survival and just focusing on getting through the next hour in one piece is valid. And, know it won’t always be this hard. You are in there, friend.
