To this point, I haven’t really dabbled in random compilations. But that changes today with a dose of NBA miscellany. Call it a lack of opportunism or a blatant absence of foresight on my part, but better late than never. After all, who doesn’t want Carl Landry, Chase Budinger, Sasha Vujačić, Gerald Henderson & Steve Blake (amongst others) in the same video? Especially when the FNBA Logo himself Tim Frazier makes a brief cameo with a textbook corner kick.
If it’s possible to overdose on forgettability, this ought to be the litmus test. So proceed with caution.
It makes my job as an overly elaborate caption writer simultaneously easier and harder. I can’t quite cram 9 extensive player synopses into the IG character limit, so less is more. As such, let’s recap every player in this video in as few words as I possibly can:
Sasha Vujačić: 2-time NBA Champion, Maria Sharapova’s ex, reappeared for the Knicks in his early 30s after what was effectively a 4 year hiatus
James Ennis III: Perth Wildcats One-Hit Wonder & bona fide NBA vagrant of the alternate 3&D variety (Threes & Dunks)
Chase Budinger: Dunk Contest blind-fold peeper turned Olympic Volleyball player
Carl Landry: 2008 All-Rookie 2nd Teamer, 3-time 6MOY Top 10 Finisher and beloved pre-championship Golden State Warrior for a lone season (along with Jarrett Jack of course)
Steve Blake: Zero NBA accolades, but a universally recognizable face among NBA role player enthusiasts & a paragon of dependability at the PG position as a spot starter
Gerald Henderson: Former Dukie, Charlotte Bobcats poster boy for a rather regrettable stretch of Charlotte basketball (which is low bar), and a mid-range maestro who never met a long two that he didn’t wanna hoist
Axel Toupane: A French wing and 2021 NBA Champion who made his NBA living off 10-days and eventually two-way deals. Won the NBA D-League’s MIP award in 2016 and then a D-League title in 2017.
Lamar Patterson: Brisbane Bullets Legend who returned from the ashes this season
R.J. Hunter: Once made 12 threes in a game at Georgia State, where he remains the all-time leader in PTS/3PM/FT%. A D-League/G-League veteran who lets it fly over the top of anyone.
