I had hoped this video would have a different ending ❤️‍🩹 But I want to share the happy moments anyway, the joy this baby brought us even for such a short time. From the outside, everything appeared to be progressing smoothly. No bleeding or cramping, dark lines on my HGC tests that I continued to take through the 9th week for peace of mind, and strengthening pregnancy symptoms like all-day nausea, cybersickness, exhaustion, and aversions like I experienced in my first pregnancy (and that also made it hard to function). So the words “there’s no heartbeat” hit hard. A missed miscarriage. I miscarried weeks ago, but my body didn’t know that. After many many tears, 2 more ultrasounds to confirm lack of viability, and 2 more appts to discuss options, I had a D&C. Even though it’s an impossible decision to have to make, I would choose it over and over again. The medical staff was supportive, sensitive, and made me feel so safe and taken care of. My body is recovering quickly and I’m feeling much more stable mentally. I’m so grateful to be living near so many supportive friends and family members during this time (rare with military life) and I’m looking forward to making my favorite season merry & bright ✨ We are moving forward with optimism and will carry this baby in our hearts always. Up to 20% of known pregnancies end in loss, and most of the time these women go through it alone. I’m here to tell you you’re not 🫶🏼 The club that no one wants to be apart of just gained a new member, and we are hoping for our rainbow soon 🌈 #miscarriage #missedmiscarriage #ttc #pregnancyloss
Recovering from a D&C is physically and mentally difficult. I’m 2 days post surgery today. Trying to be okay, physical pain and the deep sadness of losing a baby. Trying to smile at my living baby while knowing she doesn’t know that she has just lost a little brother or sister, but one day she will. And she will be sad too. We have all lost a member of our family. Constant bleeding, cramps and pain as the uterus contracts back to its original size. Nurofen, hot water bottles, pillows. This is my 2nd D&C for a missed miscarriage (the last one was 2 yrs ago). And it’s even more brutal on my body because baby was further along and measuring 12 wks. It’s complicated, painful and lonely. I’m grateful for my lovely husband who is looking after our daughter (and me); refilling my hot water bottle and bringing everything to me so I don’t have to move and exacerbate the physical pain. Baby loss, no matter how it happens, isn’t just sad it is physically traumatic. The body doesn’t easily let go of a beautiful baby it has been growing and nurturing for weeks and months. The pain is better during the day and worse at night. The last photo is me trying to have a sense of normalcy, and getting out of my pyjamas. I’m wearing compression leggings to help support the uterus and muscles as they contract and move. And yes, I did try and cheer myself up with my favourite wine. Fly high little baby, mama is thinking of you 🕊️ #miscarriage #latemiscarriage #miscarriagesupport #miscarriageawareness #babyloss #babylossawareness #babylossawarenessweek
This is not the pregnancy announcement I ever imagined having to share. Last weekend, I went in for my 10-week ultrasound. Before that appointment, I had already chosen a baby shower date, told close family members, and even scheduled a photoshoot for our announcement. In a matter of moments, all of that changed when I heard the words, “I’m so sorry… there’s no heartbeat.” One in four women will experience a miscarriage. Still, when it happened to me, I felt almost embarrassed — like I had somehow become “one out of the four.” I help women balance their hormones. I spent so much time and intention preparing my body for pregnancy. Yet the truth is, there isn’t always a clear explanation or an answer for why this happens. I’m choosing to trust that God’s understanding is greater than my own. I’m sharing this because, in those first moments, I felt incredibly alone. I didn’t know who to turn to or what to expect next. I didn’t know what questions to ask or what the coming days would look like. I experienced what’s called a “missed miscarriage,” which led to needing a D&C. My heart goes out to every woman who has silently walked this road or is walking it now. There are no words to fully describe grieving someone you never met but deeply hoped and prayed for. I’m also choosing to share this because I still want to honor and celebrate the life God gave us — even if it was for only a short time. If you have walked through this, you are not alone. 🤍 #misscarriage
January 9th was one of the happiest days of my life. I immediately contacted an OB and began the process of determining if I was having another ectopic pregnancy. I went in twice weekly for blood work to ensure my hcg was doubling correctly. My greatest fear was losing my remaining tube and becoming sterile in my 20’s. Daniel went with me to every single appointment and we waited for the worst. Pregnancy after loss is bizarre. The unadulterated joy is lost completely. Instead every time you go to the OB you wait for the worst news or check the toilet paper every time you wipe to see if there’s blood. At week 6 our baby had a heartbeat and was implanted in my uterus, exactly where it should be and my numbers were rising perfectly. We then went in for our 8 week appointment and during the ultrasound there was silence. Deafening silence. They moved us into another room and explained that our baby no longer had a heartbeat and my body was continuing on with the pregnancy regardless. This is called a missed miscarriage. I still had all the pregnancy symptoms but my baby had already passed away inside me. The next day I had a D&C surgery because my body wasn’t reacting the way it should and passing the baby. My body is recovering and our minds are healing. Our family will continue to praise God in the peaks and in the valleys even when we do not understand Gods plan. We would appreciate your prayers as we mourn our second pregnancy loss. I now have two guardian angels who I long to meet one day 👼👼 #miscarriage #miscarriageawareness #miscarriagesupport #pregnancyloss #ttcjourney #ttccommunity
Ok here it goes. I’ve been asked to share my story here on instagram. It was December 2016 and I was going in for my 20 week anatomy scan. The month prior we found out that we were expecting our first son and then our seventh child. Let’s back up a week - I had a strong feeling that something wasn’t right. My tummy felt like it had stopped growing and in my heart just felt something wrong but guess what the Lord was preparing me all along. In that week prior the kids I had a scripture we were memorizing and it was, Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. I didn’t know how much I would need to cling to that the next week. I also had dreams that I lost the baby leading up to this ultrasound, but one very sweet dream that I had was of an ultrasound and a little boy smiling at me. I’ll cherish that image forever. Fast forward to 12-14-16 I went in for my ultrasound and as soon as the baby came up on the screen I just knew and my heart sank. Baby looked smaller than he should and there was no heartbeat. I remember so vividly the grief but the overwhelming presence of the Lord and His peace. The one that surpasses all understanding. I had lost him at 16 weeks and it was called a missed miscarriage. They scheduled me for surgery two days later. I’ll always wonder why it happened and what he would have looked like but I know the Lord had a reason and I just trust that. Feel free to reach out if you are currently going through this I would love to pray for you. ❤️ #miscarriage #missedmiscarriage #pregnancy
TW: Pregnancy loss / miscarriage 🪽❤️‍🩹 The hardest video I’ve ever posted. Really wasn’t sure whether to share but miscarriages aren’t talked about enough and I hope this can make someone feel less alone. Just under 4 weeks ago, we found out we had a silent/ missed miscarriage during our 12 week ultrasound. Nothing prepares you for the words “baby’s stopped growing” and “there’s no heart beat”. I then miscarried 1.5 weeks later. We went from crying tears of joy to tears of grief. From browsing baby items and being excited to share the news to pure devastation. And honestly, we’re still trying to navigate this chapter, but I know that with time, we will heal. To anyone going through or who has been through a miscarriage, please know you are not alone. 1 in 4 women experience a miscarriage and it is far more common than we realise. I hope this post helps break the silence and encourage open conversations, so no one has to grieve quietly (my DM’s are always open). I hope we can find comfort, strength and peace during this difficult season and that one day, we receive the little miracles we dream of 🌈 Thank you to everyone who’s reached out, and for those who noticed I’ve not been active online or at the gym. So grateful for the love and support, and I know we’ll get through this, one day at a time. ❤️ #miscarriage #pregnancyloss #babyloss
2026 hasn’t started how I imagined. While others were celebrating the new year, we were back and forth to the hospital, going through three weeks of purgatory to determine whether our baby was growing…or not. At what would have been 10/11 weeks, a missed miscarriage was finally confirmed. I sobbed my eyes out in the 3rd scan, relieved to finally have a definitive conclusion. I had a moment where my mind went to, what a terrible way to start the year, as if timing has any meaning at all. It doesn’t. I’m still very much in the middle of this, physically and emotionally, so I’m sorry if you were hoping for a story about growth or perspective or lessons learned. There will be a time for that. Right now, this is just me sharing what’s real. Because so much of what we see online is filtered and processed long after the fact. And that distance from reality can feel toxic when you’re living inside something raw. If social media is meant to be about connection, then maybe there’s space here for the messy, unfinished bits too. If your year has started in a way you didn’t expect, I see you. I am you. I don’t know a great deal right now, but I do know we get through hard times, simply by going through them. Even when we don’t know how yet 🤍. Love you xx #miscarriage #missedmiscarriage #lifecoachingforwomen #fertilitycommunity #edinburghblogger
My first pregnancy wasn’t planned. I was 23, fresh off the back of a year backpacking, and absolutely not thinking about becoming a mum. Until I saw two lines. And then that was all I could think about. I was scared, of course. But slowly that was replaced by excitement and I made space in my mind and heart for a baby. I started imagining a different future and I began adjusting to the idea of motherhood. And then the first scan came. Suddenly, words like ‘ due date were replaced with “missed miscarriage” and “D&C” - it was no longer called a baby, but a foetus or a product of pregnancy. My heart broke. That loss broke something in me. It hurt me in ways I didn’t have language for. It took a long time to “get over”, and all the well-meant “at leasts” just stung. At least it was early…At least you’re young…At least you can try again… None of that helped. Because once you’ve made room for a baby, once you’ve let yourself care, it doesn’t matter whether it was planned or not. Loss is loss. The strange thing is, the pregnancy being unplanned didn’t change how deeply I felt it. It didn’t soften the grief and it didn’t make it easier to let go. A few months later I fell pregnant again, and lost that one early too. Then I conceived again a few weeks before I had originally been due - and that baby is now my eldest son. Both couldn’t have existed. So I can’t wish things had worked out differently, even though the road there hurt more than I ever expected. I have to believe everything unfolded the way it was meant to, but that doesn’t erase what it took to get here. If you’ve been through pregnancy loss - planned or unplanned - this is your reminder that your grief is valid, your story matters, and you don’t have to minimise it to make other people comfortable. ❤️‍🩹
“What is a missed miscarriage?” just sharing this to help more women understand something that is not talked about enough. The goal of this post is simply awareness. The more we talk about these things, the less alone women feel when they go through them. If you or someone you know is experiencing this, you are not alone & you deserve support & proper care. #miscarriageawareness #missedmiscarriage #chemicalpregnancy #miscarriage #miscarriagesupport
I got the initial call from my midwife around 12 weeks – I was in my pantry, moving boxes surrounding me, preparing for our move. “The genetic screening didn’t come back as straight forward as we’d hoped”. My heart sank. I’ve never even had the genetic screening done in any of my previous pregnancies, but for some reason I asked for her to draw for it the week prior. Noah was out of town. Many aspects of our life felt shaken, & now this. I opened the site to view the results & read that I either a) had a vanishing twin, or b) our baby had a genetic abnormality called triploidy. I read the words “incompatible with life” & the hot tears began. The following weeks were filled with uncertainty as the weight of the possibility of what is now our reality hung over me. I remember praying for this baby to live, but that if that wasn’t the Lord’s will, that He would allow me to make it through our move before I went through the physical process. Having to be strong for 6 kids & get them through this transition was my priority. At 14 weeks, one day after we made our move, an ultrasound confirmed that our baby had passed. It would be another 3 mentally excruciating weeks waiting for my body to process that. I think this is the unique experience of the woman in a missed miscarriage – you rarely have a moment where you forget, yet the whole world around you continues on. I so desperately wanted to close the chapter & I understand why many opt for intervention to do so, but I really wanted to allow my body to do it naturally if possible. Both relief & sorrow came when the process finally began. It was both an intense & surreal experience, & I think the hardest part was the feeling of not knowing what to expect. I’ve given unmedicated birth to 6 babies – I KNOW birth. But this? So many unknowns. It still feels so strange to just continue life. I don’t know if thinking about who that baby would have become will ever leave. Asa in Hebrew means “healer”. I’m thankful Asa never experienced pain or suffering & is in Heaven waiting for us. I’m so sorry for the many of you who know this journey all too well. It’s not something I’d wish on anyone. #miscarriage #pregnancyloss
We were hoping this would be our pregnancy announcement. Instead, we share with broken hearts that we lost our baby. #pregnancy Our grief is deep because our love had already begun. This was a missed miscarriage, where our baby stopped growing and passed before my body knew. We do not share this without sorrow, but we also do not share it without faith. We believe God is still good, even when His ways are hidden and His purposes are beyond our understanding. We are learning again that suffering is not the absence of God, but often the place where He meets us most closely. We know that nothing touches this family before it first passes through the hands of God. He sees what we cannot see, knows what we cannot know, and remains faithful even when our hearts are broken. Thank you for holding space for us, for your prayers, and for your gentle love and support. 🤍😭🪽🙏🏼 #pregnancyloss #1outof4 #missedmiscarriage
May 16th might have been the best day of my life. After almost two years of seeing negative pregnancy tests over and over again, I couldn’t believe my eyes. Our baby was supposed to be due in January 2026. Fast forward to June 26th, when I might have had the worst day of my life. After holding our baby in my body for 10 weeks (while the baby only measured 6 weeks and 3 days), I medically passed him or her in the comfort of our home. The hardest part of having a missed miscarriage is that my body still fully felt pregnant, with no signs or symptoms of loss. I had to say goodbye when my body was still working for me. All I ever wanted was to be a mom, and for 10 weeks, I was. The things my husband and I went through over the past couple of months were both the most exciting times of our lives and the living of our worst nightmare. If love could have saved you, my sweet baby — it would have. I have prayed so hard for you. You were a part of me for a short time, but I will remember you for a lifetime. To start this journey again seems so daunting, but the joy you brought us gives us hope. We are hurt. We are traumatized. We can’t understand it. We can’t believe it. But I can promise that our God is a good, good God, and God will ALWAYS provide and is ALWAYS with us in every high and in every low. That’s the hope I cling to. Until we meet you one day — your mom and dad love you so much. ❤️‍🩹👼🏻🕊️ #missedmiscarriage #miscarriage #infertility #pregnancy #pregnacyjourney #miscarriagesupport
