Our children are worth the fight, and that fight belongs to the next generation. At the Merritt Civil Rights Fellowship mock trial, Benjamin Crump challenged these emerging advocates @themerrittfellows to think about what separates a civil rights lawyer from a civil rights warrior: passion, persistence, and a willingness to struggle for a better future. These interns aren’t just learning about becoming attorneys; they’re being trained to go into the well and carry our communities’ cases. This is only the beginning of the work we’re doing to build a pipeline of courtroom advocates. Special thanks to @realwithoneil and @dallasweekly for capturing and sharing this moment.
Watch as the prosecution raises a Hearsay Objection during witness testimony at the 2026 Ohio Mock Trial State Competition. On the stand is Frankie Moyo, whose DNA was unknowingly collected from a genealogy website (GeneHeritage) and used by law enforcement to solve a 25-year-old cold case. #mocktrial
AU’s Mock Trial team placed fifth in the nation at the American Mock Trial Association’s national championship tournament, held on April 19 at George Washington University. Special congrats to third year student Amanda Parks, who was named an All-American! #spaproud
POV: The Judge Looks at You and Says, “You Have 20 Minutes—Go!” You spent months preparing for this day. You have hundreds of text messages. Emails. Pictures. Videos. School records. Medical records. A stack of documents that could fill an entire binder. And then the Judge says: “You have 20 minutes. Tell me why you’re here.” 😳 NOW WHAT? Here’s what you need to understand: Family Court is not the place to tell your entire life story. Your job is to identify the issues before the Court and focus on the evidence that actually supports your position. Ask yourself: 📌 What is the specific issue I’m asking the Judge to decide? 📌 What are the 3–5 strongest facts that support my position? 📌 What evidence proves those facts? 📌 Why is this information relevant to the issue before the Court? 📌 What specific outcome am I asking the Judge to consider? Don’t bury your strongest evidence under 200 pages of information that doesn’t directly support your case. More evidence doesn’t always mean better evidence. You need to know what’s important—and be prepared to find it quickly. Because when the Judge gives you limited time, you don’t want to spend half of it searching through your binder trying to find the document you know you brought. You have 20 minutes. Go! The question is: Are you prepared to make every minute count? If you have an upcoming Family Court hearing, start preparing now. Crawley Mediation Services offers Comprehensive Court Binder Assistance and Mock Trial Preparation to help you organize your information, identify key documents, practice answering questions, and prepare to present your position clearly and confidently. 🤔 What does it really take to prepare for law school? In this video, three Rutgers undergrads - Nalleli (RU-N '26), Amy (RU-NB '29), and Talia (RU-N '27) - share their experiences in the #RutgersLaw PREPLaw Academy (Paul Robeson's Elite Pre-Law Academy Week). PREPLaw helps aspiring lawyers develop the skills, confidence, and knowledge needed to become competitive law school applicants through hands-on legal experiences and exposure to the legal profession. This summer, for the first time, mediation and alternative dispute resolution were added to the program, including an exercise led by Mediation Clinic Director Felicia Farber. Students also heard welcome remarks from Newark Vice Dean Brandon Paradise, who shared how a program like PREPLaw could have been a valuable resource before his own law school journey. PREPLaw continues to grow beyond a single summer experience. This year's mock trial featured jurors - former PREPLaw Academy I participants - who already completed or are currently enrolled in PREPLaw Academy II, a free LSAT preparation program offered in partnership with The Princeton Review for students who complete PREPLaw Academy I. The program was founded by Distinguished Professor Rose Cuison-Villazor; Dr. Sofia Pinto-Figueroa, SASN Associate Dean of Undergraduate Education; and Chazz Fellenz, SASN Assistant Dean of Pre-Professional Services. If you're a Rutgers undergraduate considering law school, this offers a pathway into your future in law. Tap 🔗 in bio for details. #Rutgers #PreLaw #LawSchoolPrep #LegalEducation

Congrats to the talented law students who completed our 10-week U.S. Mock Trial Competition program at the Embassy’s @amcentersl, developing the advocacy and critical thinking skills that strengthen democratic institutions! 🇺🇸⚖️🇱🇰 Every week the students and @thejusticedept Resident Legal Advisor met at the American Center to study and apply key concepts of the U.S. legal system, learning American trial practice and procedure, and gaining valuable public speaking experience. At the final trial, Chargé d’Affaires Howell judged students as they put their training into action by playing the roles of prosecution and defense in the famous case tried by Abraham Lincoln - People v. Armstrong. This Mock Trial Program was one of many #Freedom250 programs we are hosting at our American Spaces, celebrating 250 years of American history, excellence, and innovation.

It was an honor to join the North Salinas High School Mock Trial meeting! I had the opportunity to share a little about what the City Council does, how local laws are created. It was great seeing these students dive into real cases, analyze the facts, and work on their opening statements as they prepare for Mock Trial. These are skills that build confidence, critical thinking, and strong future leaders. Thank you for inviting me, and good luck to the NSHS Mock Trial students! ⚖️👏 #NorthSalinasHighSchool #MockTrial #Salinas
