This one meant a lot ❤️ We saw a post in the MOD Squad asking a simple question: “Any regrets buying a MOD?” And the response… honestly blew us away. Riders from all over sharing their experiences, their stories, their daily rides - it’s exactly why we started MOD BIKES in the first place. To create something that genuinely makes people happy. Behind the scenes, our team is working every day across support, sales, product, fulfillment, and service to make sure that experience lives up to what you expect - and more. But the truth is… this community is what makes it special. We’re grateful for every one of you who rides with us, shares your story, and helps grow what MOD is becoming. This is just the beginning 🙌 #MODBIKES #MODFamily #Gratitude #CustomerLove #EBikeLife
Tonight, the Oscars are taking place in Los Angeles, which means a packed schedule of star-studded events that we’re not invited to — except for one: On Wednesday, Levi’s hosted a cocktail party celebrating prolific costume designer and stylist Arianne Phillips (@ariannephillips), who is nominated this year for her work on @completeunknownfilm, and with whom the brand collaborated on a small consumer collection inspired by Bob Dylan (Timothée Chalamet)’s wardrobe. Phillips predominantly designs costumes for period films, meaning she sources most items from vintage dealers and costume houses, in addition to building her own. Levi’s is one of the few “contemporary” brands she works with directly (on films like “Mod Squad” and “Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood”), thanks to its extensive vintage archives and prevalence throughout history: Though founded in 1853, Levi’s started gaining widespread popularity when the “blue jean craze” took hold in the 1960s — basically the exact time period in which “A Complete Unknown” is set. Bob Dylan is one of several influential public figures who helped establish the brand’s jeans as the de facto uniform for youth and the counter-culture movement of that era. Nick’s real skill isn't lying—it's never having to say "you're wrong." He practices something called "moral flexibility." He can argue any side of any issue, just to win. In one famous scene, he argues with his son about whether vanilla or chocolate ice cream is better. He doesn't care about ice cream; he's teaching (and practicing) how to win any argument by twisting logic and appealing to emotion. Goosebumps moment: Imagine if someone you were debating could always find a slick, smooth, convincing way to make their point, even if the facts weren't on their side. That power is both impressive and terrifying. The "MOD Squad" – The Unholy Trinity Nick meets regularly with two other spokespeople: · Polly Bailey: Represents the alcohol industry. · Bobby Jay Bliss: Represents the gun manufacturers. They jokingly call themselves the "MOD Squad" – Merchants of Death. They compare notes on how to handle people blaming their products for causing harm. It’s like the villain support group from a superhero movie, but they wear nice suits and meet in fancy bars. The chill here is how calmly they treat representing things that cause addiction and death. Your Brain is the Battlefield The scariest part of the movie isn't gore; it's the invisible fight. Nick goes up against a powerful Senator who wants to put a skull-and-crossbones poison label on cigarettes. He also deals with a fierce journalist who wants to expose him. The battles are fought with: · Soundbites: Perfect, catchy phrases for TV. · Twisted Logic: Nick argues that putting a poison label on cigarettes takes away the freedom of choice from Americans. · Emotional Manipulation: In his biggest stunt, he goes on a talk show and argues that instead of blaming tobacco companies, we should thank them. Why? Because the huge taxes on cigarettes pay for important state programs. It’s a crazy, brain-twisting argument that leaves the audience stunned. The Core Chill: What is it Really About? On the surface, it’s about cigarettes. But the real, deeper goosebumps theme is about persuasion. The movie is asking you: "How do you know when someone is telling you the truth, or just skillfully selling you something. #fun
