🌸✨ NORTH CAROLINA’S PRETTIEST SPRING GARDEN ✨🌸 One of my absolute FAVORITE FREE things to do in the spring is visiting the cherry blossoms @sarahpdukegardens 🌸🤍 It is absolutely breathtaking… so scenic… and hands down the perfect spot to take photos 📸 and soak in all the dreamy spring beauty 🌿🌷✨ It truly feels like you’ve stepped into a soft pink fairytale. Here’s what you need to know BEFORE you go 👇🏼 🌸 GET READY FOR CHERRIES! 🌀NATURAL GRAVITY VORTEX🌀 the ONLY one in North Carolina is located right in Blowing Rock! This natural gravitational anomaly is one of only 16 in the US (think Bermuda Triangle) and only 9 are open to the public! 👀 Originally, Mystery Hill used to be an apple orchard! When working at the apple orchard, the owners noticed some weird things happening in one area of their property. They would see apples fall sideways and roll up hills, and people would walk crooked! They looked into what was happening and realized they had a gravitational anomaly on their orchard. So, they decided to make it into Mystery Hill and now visitors from all over can experience the gravitational vortex for themselves! 😱 Also at Mystery Hill, you can find all kinds of fun things to do like experience their optical illusions, axe throwing, gem mining, and a museum of Native American artifacts and the 1903 Dougherty Farm! If an escape to the woods is one of your goals, I highly recommend making plans for an unplugged cabin getaway to the Blue Ridge Mountains. While we do have WiFi, we don’t have a tv, so you can easily just opt out, put that phone away (perhaps in our digital detox cabinet!), and pick up one of our many books instead! We’re located just outside of Asheville, NC, and near some amazing trails, cool local shops and art galleries, incredible breweries, and super tasty restaurants. Our calendar fills up fast and right now our next available weekend is in April, so there’s still time to book a spring break! Making a cabin getaway plan would be the perfect way to start on that “less screen time” resolution, too. Did you know it takes around 6 months to hike the entire Appalachian Trail? 🏔️ . Some other facts: 1. Hot Springs, NC is the first town thru-hikers reach and is an important pitstop to refuel, rest and resupply. It's about 280 miles to reach Hot Springs from the start if you're trekking northbound from Springer Mountain. . 2. Only 1 out of 4 thru-hikers finish the entire Appalachian Trail each year. . 3. The trail passes through 14 states. . 4. There are over 250 Appalachian Trail shelters on the trail. . 5. The entire Appalachian Trail is about 2,200 miles. The exact number of miles changes a little every year because trail crews need to occasionally reroute some sections for maintenance. . Folks who are thru-hiking the Appalachian Trail are on a true adventure, you'll see all kinds of people taking on this extreme challenge.
