I was fortunate recently to be able to spend a couple hours with my dear friend, Mizz Mahh-jorie in Natchez, Mississippi. You can follow her story on Instagram under Glenfield Estate. She is 96 years young and has seen more in her lifetime than most of us can even imagine. We always have such a laugh together and she just brings me such joy … and I know she will you too! Yesterday, walking by the Mississippi River in Natchez, I had a realization. I spent most of my life rushing through everything – kids, work, all the responsibilities. I keep my Plein air kit in my car for spontaneous paint-outs. I saw a tree that caught my eye driving down the Natchez Trace in Nashville, so I stopped to paint it with Cold Wax on paper. A policeman pulled over to check to see if I was packing a squeegee, which I was, “Don’t worry officer, I’m licensed to carry this tool,” he laughed— no arrest- whew!!! . PS— I just sold this painting today, it found a beautiful home in Knoxville, Tennessee. You never know where your art is going to go and who will resonate with it. But I can assure you it’s a fabulous couple who will treat her kindly.🥰 . . #artistlife #nashvilleart #pleinair #coldwax #coldwaxpainting
