FEATURE #138 RYAN DODD @ryandoddartist - COUNTRY // United Kingdom - READ THE FULL FEATURE IN THE MAG [ link in bio ] - “My working practise incorporates quietly observing the world. I try not to impose my presence as a photographer. I aim to allow the moment to unfold in front of me and for meaning to emerge from the act of looking and recording. These photographs are from an ongoing project about lived spaces. It is a photographic series designed to pose questions to the viewer. What happens on these streets? What happens inside these homes?” ————————————————————— Visit THE PICTORIAL LIST website for more inspiration and discovery. - www.thepictorial-list.com - Visit our friends: @spectaculum_magazine @street_macadam @bnw.street.fotos @street_avengers —————————————— #liveunscripted #documentingspace #mundanebeauty #minimalistlandscape #togspace #alteredlandscapes #newtopographic #newtopographics #somewheremagazine #suburbanlandscape #ifyouleave #oftheafternoon #edgelands #everydayeverywhere #super_ordinarylife #ig_minimalistic #opendoorgallery #ourmoodydays #facadelovers #lensculture #eyeshotmagazine #banal #streetcommune #eyephotomagazine #documentinglife #reframedmag #pellicolamag #visualmood

EARLIER THIS YEAR, I went for my most ambitious photo shoot of my life. My goal was to photograph both views of the Railroad Landscape in Richmond Virginia which is sandwiched between two interstate highways. It is one of the most fascinating urban landscapes I have seen in my tens of thousands of miles traveling the American Realm. I chose the afternoon to begin the shoot as the forecast included pleasant contrast and developed skies. My task was extra difficult because my angle necessitated the use of my 12 foot tripod to SHOOT OVER the 10 foot fence on the overpass. I had to set this up twice for both North and South views with car noise, wind, and setting the fully manual camera and loading film all while waiting for the PERFECT light. It was a challenge, but I hope you enjoy the result. One of the magic elements of photography is the depiction of reality in relation to itself - two scenes similar but radically different. #8x10camera #americanart #americanphotography #arcaswiss #fineartphotography #documentaryphotography #madewithkodak #thisaintartschool #onassignment #newtopographic #contemporaryart #artistsatwork #ontheroad

The next few posts will be of a few of the payphones I found. In total, I found 37 within four days. This is the camera every skate video in the late 90s and 2000s was made with, and it brought back some of the original joy I felt when I first started filming. Sony VX1000 for anyone interested.
