What you need to know 👇🏻
There’s a new park in Sydney - Hornsby Park, in Sydney’s north, that is transforming an old quarry into a new bushland area for families to enjoy.
The park is being delivered in stages, and this is what you can enjoy now ⬇️
🌅 There’s a new lookout that’s wheelchair and pram accessible with lovely views over the former quarry and surrounding bushland
🧺 The Crusher Plant Precinct has picnic tables, BBQs and toilets and there’s a flat path here for toddlers on scooters, but it is still relatively small.
🌿 The main access point for bush walks are the Heritage Steps that connect to Hornsby in one direction (approx 30 min walk), and approx 15 mins in the other to connect with The Great North Walk and Blue Gum Walk with various trails available (there are maps on site). Just beware that the steps are very steep, so best suited to primary aged kids and up.
Still to come ⬇️
🚲A bike jump, pump track and cycling trail
⚽️ Old Man’s Valley Field of Play.
📍Access to Hornsby Park is via Quarry Road
🅿️There is some 4 hour, FREE parking at the Crusher Plant Precinct, but the spaces were limited. There is also some 4 hour parking on Quarry Road as you enter
🚂 Accessible via Hornsby Train station, just be prepared for a steep walk back via the Heritage Steps

Everything you need to know 👇🏼
This one is really special - there’s a brand new walk in Sydney and it’s suitable for all ages! We absolutely loved it.
The Greenway is a new corridor that’s opened from the Cooks River to the Bay Run. It’s mostly flat making it suitable for prams and bikes.
📍You can either start this walk at Dulwich Hill or Leichhardt. It’s 6km one way
🚊The whole walk is connected by the light rail, making it super easy to travel one way and then catch the train back. Or if you have small kids who can’t make it the whole way, you could just do a portion of this walk.
🛝There are 7 playgrounds en route as well as great parks and green spaces. You have Richard Murden Reserve at one end, Ewen Park at the other and lots of smaller playgrounds on the way. This would be an awesome day out for kids on bikes! Just note that Ewen Park is about a 15 min walk from Dulwich Hill train station.
☕️ There’s coffee and toilets along the path too.
🐶 Dogs are welcome on a leash.

The Sydney Olympic Park Scenic Loop is a 6km loop track that takes you through wetlands, mangroves and open parkland - and it honestly feels like you’ve left Sydney completely!
If you’ve got extra time, explore the boardwalks and wildlife protection areas along the way. It’ll turn this into a longer walk, but it’s 100% worth it.
It’s completely flat, making it perfect for wheelchairs and prams, and while dogs are allowed on leash in most areas, some sections are protected. Just keep an eye on the signage.
🚆 Public transport accessible:
Catch a train to Concord West and it’s a short walk to the start of the track.
☕ Amenities:
Toilets, BBQ areas, playgrounds and plenty of cafes along the way, so grab a coffee and make a day of it.
This is one of the easiest and most underrated walks in Sydney and such a good way to explore the outdoors without needing a car.
