Every stitch is a small act of resistance against waste.
So many textiles are thrown away while they still have so much life left in them. In our studio, we see possibility instead.
We cut, sew, and reimagine materials that would otherwise be discarded, turning them into something useful again.
It may look like simple sewing, but every piece is part of a bigger story.
It’s WIP Wednesday. ♻️✂️ Back in my sewing studio with all my upcycled textiles saved from landfill. I talk through my plans for some embroidered tablecloths (jumpsuit/romper anyone!) and what I’m making in preparation for my first pop up shop in April!
I’ll be selling some of my new makes under my slow fashion brand @keep.collective alongside lovely Rosie from @roakestudio and the fabulous @hannah.rochell
With the kids off on Easter break for the next two weeks I’m not sure how much more I’ll get done as it’s just me sewing up each piece so wish me luck!! 😅
And tell me off if I get distracted again. 🤣🤭
March drops are in motion.
A new batch of reclaimed fabrics just arrived, and the possibilities are endless.
Unbox them with me and let’s see what these textiles want to become.

Imagine the people that will say things like this. There will absolutely be people like this. There already are. These are the real April Fools.
Find your fire. THIS is mine 🧵🤎

Upcycle: to make something new out of something old. This quilt had definitely seen better days. Now it is a cool artsy tote bag that someone will love. That’s how I give new life to discarded textiles. #upcycle #thrifting #sewing #craftprojects #totebags

Every piece we create in the studio has a past life and a chance for a future.
Instead of letting textiles sit in landfill, we give them a second life through thoughtful design and careful craftsmanship. Each stitch is a small step toward a more sustainable way of making and using everyday items.
Shop our upcycled collection and help us keep textiles out of landfills.
Friends having fun 🤩 Thank you Dayna for your help yesterday

Nope, I am not participating in IG Quiltfest this year- I am too busy getting ready for an epic fucking trip to Antarctica! Heading out next week so I’m not purposely not diving into any projects. But, I am prepping for a kitchen rug project by harvesting jeans for when I get back. I have like 07 piles of mess going on right now. I like to think I’m making @sewingthroughfog proud 🤘🏻#releasetheepsteinfiles #upcycle #blackrabbitquiltstudio #resist
Purses With Purpose
What’s in a word? Today’s tiny handbags were made from 1930’s-40’s feed bags and retired shirts. The original quilt was pieced together by hand with the hexagon shapes connected together. The quilt itself was also hand stitched together. The bags are complimented with up cycled denim for the lining, purse flap and handles. It is finished with a hand painted wooden button. On the side there is a D-ring featuring words engraved on metal charms.
Pick the one you want to buy and you can come pick up in person or they can be mailed for a small fee. The bags are $68. And $10. from each bag gets donated to Albion Fellows Bacon Center

You might not fully understand everything we do at One Common Thread — and that’s okay. 🤍
Maybe you don’t quilt.
Maybe you’ve never been to Honduras.
Maybe you don’t totally understand how repurposed fabric turns into opportunity.
