The Final Countdown! 🚨 Only 4 days to go!
Even if you can’t join us at the Accrington Stanley Sports Hub this Saturday, you can still be a huge part of the team! We are so excited to have Paddy McGuinness helping us raise vital funds for the North West Ambulance Service Charity, and we need your help to reach our goal. 🚑💛
Our ambulance teams are there for us 24/7. By donating from home today, you are helping fund:
• ❤️ Lifesaving defibrillators (AEDs)
• ❤️ Community education programmes
• ❤️ Essential wellbeing support for our frontline staff and volunteers
You don't have to be at the match to be a hero! Every donation—no matter the size—makes a massive difference to those who save lives every day.

👮🏻♂️Whilst off-duty, police officer constable Pete Sharp of @sutton_metropolitan_police was able to help a man suffering a cardiac arrest thanks to an app called GoodSAM.
He said, "I was off duty and picked up my personal phone to turn it to silent when I heard the siren noise from the app. It told me there was someone having a cardiac arrest within 800m of my location, so I got in my car and went.”
Mr Sharp arrived to find the man on the floor with a defibrillator and continued to give CPR for around 10 minutes.
What a hero!

This week I had the pleasure of teaching cultural safety to @nwasofficial
You might be wondering why a midwife is delivering this kind of training but cultural safety isn’t limited to one role or profession. It’s a concept that applies across all sectors. Whether you’re in healthcare, education, or any people-facing role, the ability to reflect, adapt, and provide safe, inclusive spaces is essential.
As healthcare professionals, I truly believe we have a responsibility to continuously examine ourselvesthe biases we may carry, the assumptions we make, and how these can shape the care we provide. Only then can we meaningfully apply and share this learning with others.
These sessions are about growth for me as much as for those participating. We had honest conversations, moments of reflection, and yes, some discomfort. But that discomfort is where the real learning happens.
Cultural safety goes beyond awareness. It’s about recognising power imbalances, understanding the lived experiences of different communities, and acknowledging the inequalities that still exist within our systems. It asks us to listen more, judge less, and adapt our approach so that every individual feels respected, heard, and safe.
Grateful for the openness in the room and the willingness to engage in these important conversations. This is how we move forward together.
If you would like to arrange a session, feel free to get in touch via the link in my bio.

HUGE thank you to the incredible @nwasofficial for their vital work across Greater Manchester! 🚑
Yesterday, our cadets and staff at the Inter-Squadron Football competition had an amazing opportunity to learn about the ambulance service, get hands-on with life-saving equipment, and explore potential career paths. A massive shout out to Flt Lt Joe Lord from @2200sqn for making this invaluable visit happen! His dedication as both a @aircadets volunteer and a Senior Paramedic is truly inspiring. 🙌

“Your wellbeing is our priority.”
That’s what NWAS says online. That’s what the hashtags scream.
Except when it counts, the wellbeing team—the people who actually support staff mental health—are being axed.
Frontline crews don’t leave trauma at the station. It lingers:
Manchester Arena bombing (2017): Staff carrying anxiety and nightmares years later.
Southport stabbings (2024): PTSD, depression, and long-term burnout.
Recent synagogue attack (2025): Sleepless nights, intrusive memories, struggling to function.
Now, without the wellbeing team, staff are being told: “Carry it alone.”
The posts say “your welfare is our priority.” Reality says: “We’ll cut the team that makes that true.”
This isn’t just tone-deaf. It’s dangerous—for staff, for patients, for the service. Burnout, mistakes, and trauma left untreated are predictable, and preventable.
Frontline crews deserve better. Real support. Real care. Not empty words.

A massive thank you to Squeeze Box and everyone who came this afternoon. As you can see it was an amazing afternoon in the sun, with fantastic music that got more than just our toes tapping!
Even more amazing is that we have reached the half way mark and raised over £5000 for the Angela Mclean Fund.
Once again thank you to everyone who has helped and supported us.

It was lovely to volunteer and give some time to visit the staff at @nwasofficial in Kendal so they could have some canine love and help release the ‘hug hormone’.🤗
Slightly bitter sweet for me as a volunteer @therapydogsnationwide because I joined NWAS as an apprentice EMT1 two years ago after passing the difficult selection process. Chosen amongst many many applicants due to my myriad of skills developed working over 10 years with the emergency services in France.
I was sadly dismissed in March 2022 due to, in my opinion, a lack of compassion and care on the part of management.
I was going through perimenopause and I had a myriad of ongoing personal issues with my family which naturally affected my personal performance.
I was not allowed to go for my blue light exam. Ironically my intake instructor had said on my selection driving test that I’d make a great blue light driver.
I was sent to an incapacity hearing and dismissed.
One door closes and another opens… and in many ways I am grateful that this door was shut. My path is helping others and I prefer not to be with those who put their egos first and don’t bring out the best with those they are working with.
When you dedicate your life to caring for others caring for your fellow colleagues should be a priority 🙏
Be kind ❤️
