Antonio Vivaldi – The Four Seasons, Op. 8, Chloe Chua Vivaldi’s concerto demands clarity, stamina, and constant control. At this age, simply standing at the center of such a work is already unusual. Performing it from memory, surrounded by a full orchestra, turns it into something else. For a few minutes, it feels almost unreal that the entire stage is held by someone so young. 🎻🔥 Niccolò Paganini/Nathan Milstein – Paganiniana Chloe Chua – violin 🎻 • In the early 1950s, Nathan Milstein took the most treacherous passages from Paganini's Caprices and forged them into a single piece for solo violin. No orchestra, no support — and he himself acknowledged the brutal level of demand the piece required. When the creator says it's too much even for him, what's left is an open challenge. • The structure doesn't follow the traditional theme-and-variations path. Each section compresses and accelerates the technical demands, as if the instrument were being pushed to a deliberate breaking point. When Milstein built this piece, already at the peak of his career, he still treated certain passages as problems with no comfortable solution. The violin has nowhere to rest here — every phrase pushes into the next without warning. • And then comes Chloe Chua, at just 17, moving through the central variations as if the difficulty were scenery rather than obstacle. The bow digs hard into the double stops, her body follows every phrase, and you can see the effort — but it never becomes a stumble. The difficulty is all there, fully visible, and yet nothing escapes. That's what's so striking: not the absence of struggle, but the absolute control within it. • 👉 Follow for the best of classical music, daily in your feed. • • • #paganini #violin #classicalmusic #violinist
Joelle, a 3 year old pianist, performed Shostakovich’s Waltz No. 2 with an orchestra at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre. The performance was recorded in November 2025 and later released online, where it quickly went viral with millions of views. She performed with the China Hong Kong Youth Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Artem Konstantinov. Joelle is trained by concert pianist Shirley Lo, who is known for teaching very young piano students. What makes the performance stand out is her ability to follow the orchestra’s timing and structure at such a young age, which is extremely rare. Even though the piece is simplified in parts, it still requires coordination and musical awareness that most children only develop years later.
The Orquestra Juvenil da Bahia (@neojiba) has done it again. They perfectly blend great skill and technique with an easy going, and fun approach, where the music allows it. It’s performances like this that beautifully demonstrate that classical music does not need to be formal and stiff. It’s a refreshing reminder to the community that, while some pieces are deeply profound and demand serious attention, there is also plenty of joy and playfulness to be found in the genre. Neojiba’s ability to showcase this lighter, more accessible side of classical music is a true service to the art form #classicalmusic #fun #orchestra #dance This clip is being used for educational purposes

🌩️🎻 Antonio Vivaldi — L’Estate (Summer), Op. 8 No. 2, RV 315 — 3rd Mov. Presto Kristīne Balanas (violin) & Margarita Balanas (cello) 🎻🎶 @margaritabalanas @kristinebalanas • This performance is an encore. Kristīne and Margarita Balanas had just played Brahms’ Double Concerto with the Barcelona Symphony Orchestra at L’Auditori, and returned to the stage alone — no orchestra, no conductor — to play an arrangement that only they have. They took a piece written for solo violin and string orchestra and fit it all into two instruments. The result has an energy that no studio recording can reproduce. • The sisters were born in Dobele, a small town in Latvia, into a family with no connection to classical music. They grew up singing rock with their father, listening to the Beatles and Janet Jackson. They started playing in public squares, and the coins they collected paid for their first instruments and the move to Riga. Kristīne graduated from the Royal Academy of Music in London and plays an Italian violin from 1787. Margarita studied at the same institution, was mentored by the legendary Lynn Harrell, and is now assistant conductor to Paavo Järvi at the Tonhalle in Zurich. The cello she plays is 177 years old and is the same one on which Saint-Saëns premiered his Concerto No. 1 in 1873. • When the two play together, something emerges that can’t be taught at a conservatory. It’s the complicity of those who’ve shared a stage since before they knew what a stage was. In this encore, the protocol of the formal concert disappears, and what remains is the same energy from the squares of Dobele — only now inside one of the finest halls in Europe. The glances they exchange mid-Vivaldi aren’t rehearsed; they’re the reflex of a lifetime playing side by side. • 👉 Follow for the best of classical music, daily in your feed. • • • #vivaldi #violin #cello #classicalmusic
