The Olympic Cauldron in Paris: how to visit it and watch it rise into the sky
The Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Cauldron is back in the Tuileries Garden. You can see it from June 21 to September 14, 2026.
How to visit:
* during the day, you can enter the Tuileries Garden, walk right up to the cauldron and see it for free
* no reservation is required for a daytime visit
* the garden closes in the evening, so you need to watch the cauldron rise from outside
* one of the best viewing spots is on the Louvre side
Lift-off times:
* until July 31 - around 10:30 PM
* in August - around 9:30 PM
* from September 1 to 14 - around 8:30 PM
The exact time and whether the cauldron can rise depend on weather conditions.
The cauldron was created for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games as a modern interpretation of the Olympic flame. There is no real fire inside. The flame effect is created using water and light, and the entire structure is powered by electricity.
The Tuileries Garden was not chosen by chance. On December 1, 1783, the first crewed flight in a hydrogen-filled balloon took off from this location. The floating Olympic Cauldron is a tribute to the history of French ballooning.

The Paris Olympics have become one with the city 🫠♥️. It was a very festive atmosphere around the Louvre last evening. There were thousands of people out to watch the Olympic cauldron rise up onto the Paris skies.
⏳Timing: Sunset- 2 AM every evening from Aug. 28 to Sept. 8 (until the end of the Summer Olympic Games) . When I visited yesterday, the cauldron rose up at 10 PM sharp, as the Eiffel Tower began to sparkle.
📍Location: Jardin des Tuileries & Place du Carrousel in front of the Louvre Pyramides.
Against the backdrop of the Louvre Pyramids and the Eiffel Tower peeking through in the corner, it’s a surreal, gorgeous sight 🫠. I also love how Paris brought the spirit of Olympic games to that gardens of the city, and made it accessible for all of us to enjoy!
It is the first in Olympic history to light up without the use of fossil fuels, using water and electric light instead.

Summer in Paris just got even better. 🎡✨
The Fête des Tuileries is officially back in the Tuileries Garden, located right next to the Louvre. The fair brings retro carousels, carnival games, and classic summer treats right to the heart of the city. For the best views, hop on the giant Ferris wheel at dusk to watch the skyline light up.
Right next to the fair, the iconic Olympic cauldron has made its return. You can view this eco-friendly helium balloon up close for free during the day, or watch it float into the night sky each evening at sunset. 🎈🔥
