Instrumentos. timbales · batería · percusión · vibráfono. Nace un 20 de abril de 1923 en new York. El timbalero Tito Puente es una de las celebridades de descendencia latina que más han repercutido en el pentagrama musical. Sus más de 50 años de reinado en la música se decoran con cuatro premios Grammy, varios doctorados honorarios, participaciones estelares en innumerables programas televisivos, así como en largometrajes, conciertos y presentaciones alrededor del mundo. Considerado por muchos como una "leyenda viviente", sus grabaciones y composiciones se han convertido en clásicos de la música popular. "Oye como va" y "Para los rumberos" han sido grabadas por leyendas de la música rock como Carlos Santana. Sus álbumes "Top Percussion", "Dance Mania", "Puente in Percussion", "Cuban Carnaval", "El Rey del Timbal" y "El número 100" son parte esencial en los anaqueles de los buenos coleccionistas de música del mundo. Además de sus cuatro premios Grammy y sus 11 nominaciones, Tito Puente ha recibido una condecoración presidencial por su servicio en la Segunda Guerra Mundial, el premio Eubie Blake de la Academia Nacional de Artes, la medalla Honor Smithsonian, el premio de los fundadores de ASCAP y el premio del comité que honra la Tradición Hispana en las Artes en Washington D.C.
