Part 1 of “HOW TO SKI PARALLEL” 🎿 If you’re comfortable linking snowplough turns and ready to take the next step, this drill is for you. The Bow Tie Drill teaches you the exact movement your skis need to make at the end of every turn to transition from a snowplough into a parallel position, and the best part? You can practise it on flat ground before you even get on the slopes.
Aaron walks you through every step so you know exactly what you should be feeling and where your skis need to go. Visit the link in our bio for the full video and book your ski lessons at maisonsport.com! Your perfect instructor is just a click away! ⛷️

Part 3 of “HOW TO SKI PARALLEL” 🎿 Struggling to get your ski flat at the end of a snowplough turn? This tip is for you. In Part 3, Aaron introduces one of the most useful tricks to help you achieve the right feeling when transitioning to parallel skiing - the inside ski tap.
As your snowplough turn nears completion, simply unweight the inside ski and give it a small tap. That tap helps flatten the ski and brings it into a parallel position far more naturally than trying to force the movement. Start each turn in a large snowplough, let it develop, then tap as you finish. Repeat it turn after turn and you’ll start to feel the parallel position coming much more easily.

Part 4 of “HOW TO SKI PARALLEL” ⛷️ Want to make parallel turns feel more natural? Start with a smaller snowplough. In the final part of this series, Aaron explains why reducing the size of your initial snowplough is such a game changer. Having less width means less rotation needed to match your skis into parallel, making the whole movement smoother and more instinctive. The catch is that a smaller snowplough builds more speed, so stick to gentle terrain and make sure you’re rounding off your turns. And pay close attention to your weight distribution, staying centred or drifting to the inside of the turn will make it nearly impossible to flatten and rotate your ski.
Keep your balance loaded over the outside ski and the parallel position will start coming naturally. Full video at the link in our bio 🔗

BE ADVISED: while I can give you some insight into these skills and how to practise them - I cannot deem whether or not they are appropriate to you and your level here on instagram without seeing your skiing first.
Working on rotational separation can be good for some and can help skiers break out of the intermediate plateau - but for others, these drills could even be bad for your skiing. For example those who struggle with turn shape and washing the tails out in turns.
So enjoy the video - but don’t assume this is automatically a good thing for your specific skiing - maybe come join one of my ski camps instead! Check them out on alpinetutorials.com 😎
Cheers, George ✌️

In difficult, variable snow conditions, this little up movement lifts the tails and releases them from the snow, making it easier to complete a turn. It’s a tad more effort but it’s a useful tool when the snow conditions are tricky.
Happy skiing folks, George ✌️
