Perfect Days is a meditative film about finding beauty in the ordinary. A quiet, deeply human journey through solitude, routine, memories, and the small moments that make life meaningful. Kōji Yakusho won the Best Actor award at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival for his performance. #perfectdays #wimwenders #films

Perfect Days (2023) is a quietly luminous and deeply meditative drama that follows Hirayama, a Tokyo toilet cleaner who lives a life of beautiful simplicity tending to his plants, listening to cassette tapes, reading paperback novels, and photographing sunlight through trees — a film that asks whether a small, ordinary life lived with full attention and gratitude is not in fact the most extraordinary life of all. This is a song I recorded for the film Perfect Days by Wim Wenders which received an Oscar nomination. It is a special track for me. One reason being that it is an honour to participate in a Wim Wenders’ film. It’s an incredibly touching story, film and cast. When I saw Perfect Days, I was intensely proud to be part of such a beautiful project. This film is filled with little pockets of hope that you get to keep with you when you leave the theatre, which is hard to come by these days. The other thing about the track is it is a cover of one of my favourite songs, Perfect Day by Lou Reed. So, I really took it to heart to try to make something humble and powerful. I think this film is a must watch especially if you love Japan. I feel it offers a beautiful window into the small incredible details of that magical place. I highly recommend you watch it. Congratulations to the film for its Oscar nomination and thank you so much to Wim Wenders and the entire team, especially to my longtime friend Keiko who thought of me for this. Anyway, it’s out now! #kojiyakusho #arisanakano #perfectdays #wimwenders #kojiyakusho #oscars #oscarnominations #wendersimages

Perfect Days (2023) A simple life... Can still be a beautiful one. *Perfect Days* follows Hirayama, a public toilet cleaner in Tokyo whose days are built around quiet routines—waking before sunrise, listening to cassette tapes, reading books, photographing trees, and finding peace in the smallest moments most people never notice. Nothing extraordinary seems to happen. And that's exactly the point. Rather than chasing dramatic twists or grand ambitions, the film invites us to slow down and appreciate the beauty hidden within ordinary life. Through brief encounters and quiet observations, small fragments of Hirayama's past begin to emerge, revealing a man who has found meaning not in having more... But in needing less. Kōji Yakusho delivers a remarkable performance with very few words, proving that silence can often express more than dialogue ever could. Directed by Wim Wenders, *Perfect Days* is a gentle reminder that happiness doesn't always arrive through life-changing moments. Sometimes... It's found in the morning sunlight, a favorite song, the rustling of leaves, or a smile from a stranger. A masterpiece that teaches us to slow down and appreciate the beauty already around us. Komorebi… Bu Japonca kelimeyi çok severim. Hani ağaçların yaprakları arasından güneş ışınları parıldar ya, ona verilen isim. Dün akşam izlediğim Japon filminin başrolündeki karakter her gün aynı ağacın fotoğrafını çekiyordu. Her gün aynı hayatı yaşıyordu.
