New winter cards! I was quite nervous when ordering these at @peterprintnl because you never know how the colours will turn out… But I’m so relieved, because they turned out exactly like I imagined 😍 I hope you like them too! The illustrations for these cards are all linocut reduction prints, though instead of printing all colour layers on top of eachother, I printed them seperately. I merged them together digitally, and added rose gold details (printed with foil) for a little extra ✨magic✨. Would you buy the whole set, or just one or two? Inspired by a meme and print colour schemes, @_PeterJudson's audio-visual works dance, deconstruct, fall apart and put themselves back together again. The initial idea for his recent project - titled Staring At Fields - came to Peter in the form of a meme: a piece of salmon nigiri sushi ‘rendered’ in RGB vs CMYK - the sushi in RGB looks unnaturally vibrant whereas the CMYK version seems sad and muted. But this dullness inspired Peter, who is fascinated by colour theory. “I think colour is a skill that can be learnt, similar to cooking and combining ingredients. The more you do it the better you become,” he says. “The aim was to combine form and colour until everything clicked into place. Animation became a way of pulling that moment apart – revealing to the viewer that the ‘finished’ composition is fragile,” he continues. “Slight changes in scale and position disrupt the harmony whilst also hinting at how the final composition was made.” #itsnicethat
