Storytime - a couple of weeks ago, we had a small field mouse find its way into our home. We live in a farming village so it's not exactly unusual! It was so tiny that we kept it a couple of days to make sure it was old enough and healthy enough. It was! And we sadly released 😢 We've had pet mice before, and Terry grew up keeping them. It brought back that urge to have mice! Sooo Terry built a custom cage this week out of things we already had. We found a breeder on Pets 4 Homes (our last ones were pet shop mice and really unhealthy). And today we went to choose our mice and bring them home!! We tried introducing our two mouse pairs over the weekend! Cherry and Blossom were incredible, Piper fit right in, and Baby…needed more time. Something that works for one mouse intro might not work for another! I’ve had success with using the open neutral area as a first step before, but it caused a lot of anxiety for Baby. Introducing them in the open bin and then taking a breath before the carrier, though, has worked well! It’s so interesting how different personalities can lead to such different needs during an intro process, which is why it’s so important to understand the process and make adjustments as needed. ❤️ #petmice #smallpets #smallpetcare #exoticpets #fancymice

The biggest lesson I’ve learned with bonding mice is patience! It might feel uncomfortable to leave mice in a smaller tank for so long, but moving too quickly through the process always backfires. Cherry, Blossom, Piper, and Baby are truly bonding into a little family!
