Hydration helps in training, period. It’s not just about thirst. When you’re hydrated, your body and brain just work better. • Muscle contraction + power output • Joint lubrication + injury prevention • Blood volume → oxygen + nutrient delivery • Nervous system signaling + coordination And the part most people miss- Your thyroid depends on hydration. Dehydration = • Slower cellular metabolism • Poor T4 → T3 conversion • Increased cortisol (which blocks thyroid signaling) • Sluggish recovery + fatigue If you’re training hard but feel flat, can’t control HR, cold all day, inflamed, you’re seeing high resting HR during sleep, or you’re wired but tired… it’s not a motivation issue. It’s often a cellular hydration + mineral problem. There’s no wrong way to Aprés… BUT! These are a few of my favorites that make the pow turns even tastier: 1. A chair: There’s nothing more luxurious than sitting your keister down after being in ski boots all day imo. It also makes changing a bit easier. I got these chairs at the @rei garage sale years ago & they are light & easy to pack. 2. Enough to share: The heart of Aprés is community! If you can, bring enough to share! Whether it’s snacks (today I made spam musubis) or a well deserved brew. We pack our @yeti cooler the night before to keep things cold in the truck! 3. Soup: I’m gonna tell you this right now… listen closely: a hot thermos of miso soup on a cold day will change your life. Don’t walk, RUN to your nearest market & pick up the instant packet of miso soup. Dm me if you want my favs! 4. Dry socks: My feet sweat like nobodies business in these plastic straight jackets. The wonders a dry sock after will do for you & your cozy/warmth levels is unmatched. 5. A blanket: I love this one by @passengerclothing because it smooshes into its own pocket that turns into a little bag for easy carrying. It’s also fleece on one side & wind resistant on the other for max cozy vibes. 6. Water & hydration amplifier: Chances are, if you’re a sweaty Betty like me trying to keep up with the pack, you didn’t drink enough water to replace what you lost. Before your truck beer - chug a water with a hydration packet like @protektproducts that also includes electrolytes & minerals you lost on the hill. 7. Dog treats: If you want to be the most popular in the parking lot with who really matters most.. bring treats🦴 Because they worked 10x as hard as we did & deserve a treato. 8. Turn off your beacon & radio: We get so excited about getting those boots off it’s easy to forget so be a pal & say it out loud to remind your friends. 9. Extra layers: As the sweat cools, there’s nothing that can cut a good lot sesh short like hypothermia. Bring warm layers & change out of wet clothes fast! 10.
