I’ll be honest, I really liked how the saw cut and handled with a the western style grip. What do you all think? Should we develop this more or is it a bad idea?

@dinesen.lutherie demonstrates cutting Ipe wood, the second densest hardwood in the world (it is seriously so heavy, even a small sliver can't be broken by hand!) The Pegas saw and #12 super hook tooth blades do a great job cutting through the hard wood, but with super dense woods the pressure can cause blade slippage, especially towards when the chuck head needs renewal like Isaac's. So the tip: re-do your tension periodically to keep everything locked in!
Got questions? Interested in the "Mini bandsaw" scroll saw blades? Need a renewal set for your chuck as parts naturally wear over time? Say hi to us at Bear Woods Supply - we have you covered!

First test of the bandsaw sled on a chainsawn log (apple). This log is obviously starting more or less rectangular in shape off the chainsaw. I had to work out the grain direction & remove the pith. But this was a complex junction from the apple tree as there was another branch (& it’s pith) shooting off at a different angle to the main pith of this branch. In the end I didn’t get as much from this piece as I would have liked. I was confused about which way the grain was going too. Fortunately when I got it on the lathe I had the end grain going in the direction I thought it was. But the sled worked really well as you can see here. A chock can be rotated 180 degrees & the square end used instead of the sloped end, although I think the chock needs to be a bit longer. I guess these cuts could be done without the sled &/or use the fence that came with the bandsaw, but it’s nice to push the sled along. You can lineup your workpiece using the blade slot in the sled. Reel is x4 speed. #greenwoodturning
