Were you like me, didn’t even know there’s a Quanzhou (泉州) in Fujian(福建), China? It sits along the same coastal line as places like Xiamen (厦门) and Fuzhou (福州). I honestly thought the place would just be a small, old city — especially since @XiamenAirlinesSingapore the only airline flying there direct from Singapore, but I was so so wrong!
It has this offbeat feel, yet still with everything modern you actually need. It’s clean everywhere, even at the night markets, and there are cultural sites here that date back over a thousand years. Food and transport are also surprisingly affordable, and the weather makes it easy to just move around.
Not the most obvious place to visit, or one we usually think of, but it makes sense once you’re there, and probably one I’d come back to!

Tried the most beautiful flower crown wreath from Quanzhou, Xunpu Village!!! The results were so BEAUTIFUL i want to wear it my whole life 😭😭😭
Called ‘簪花围’ (zàn huā wéi), this thousand year old tradition is also part of China’s national intangible culture heritage!
In the past, when men went out to sea to fish, women would don these flower crowns to pray for their safe return, serving as symbols of hope for a better life. (SO SWEEEET)
Also, there is a really cute chinese saying ‘今生簪花，来世漂亮‘ which meant that if you put flowers in your hair in this life, and you’ll also be pretty in the afterlife, and I think they are right 💐

走在洛陽橋上，
腳下是已經走過一千多年的石橋。
潮水來來去去，
橋卻一直守在這裡。
走進洛陽古街，
時間好像慢了下來。
老房子、老街道、還有熟悉的人間煙火。
很多泉州人都說，
來到這裡，一定要去關岳廟。
香火鼎盛、信仰深厚，
那是一種延續了幾百年的文化。
而西街，
是整座城市最熱鬧的地方。
街的盡頭，就是千年古寺——開元寺。
最後，在西街簪上一朵花。
一瞬間，
好像也成了這座城市的一部分。
有些城市，
來過一次就會留在記憶裡。
泉州，大概就是這樣的地方。
