Sometimes the race result is not confusing at all.
It is just brutally honest.
Training has a way of flattering runners. Sessions have breaks. Sessions have context. Sessions let you attack one piece of the problem at a time. Races remove those kindnesses.
They ask whether the rhythm was really there.
Whether the durability was really there.
Whether the pace you kept touching in training was actually something you knew how to live inside once the resets disappeared.
That is why races can feel harsher but also clearer. They strip the flattering parts out of the training story. They expose what the sessions were really building and what they were only pretending to build.
A lot of runners feel frustrated by that because the training looked strong. The splits looked strong. The confidence looked justified.
Then the race tells the truth in a language that is much harder to argue with.
That is not failure. It is information.
Comment 5K and I’ll ask what’s missing.
Despite the race result we are still proud of you @daffidreynolds 500 races is no mean feat 🏎️🏁 better luck tomorrow poo poo bum 💩😂🫢
You race exactly the way you train. 🤷♂️
If your inputs are random, you can’t be surprised when your race result is too.
We all love to obsess over the miles, but too many runners ignore everything else.
Lifting heavy & consistently 1-2x a week isn’t optional. It’s key to making you durable enough to handle the training you want to do.
Compound lifts like squats and deadlifts increase your force production so your form doesn’t crumble when the fatigue hits at mile 20.
Adding plyometrics turns your tendons into certified pogo sticks, making you more efficient with each and every stride.
Then, look at your training log. “More miles” only works if you can recover from them.
An ideal week isn’t about crushing every run, it’s about the discipline to keep easy days truly easy so you can stack healthy weeks on top of each other without having to interrupt your training due to another injury.
Build the athlete first, then build the runner.

✨Reminder, that progress isn’t always linear and setbacks are just a part of the game!
The longer the race distance gets, the more factors have an influence on your race result. You don’t have to PB every time!
So don’t feel bad if a race doesn’t go as planned - focus on what’s coming next! 💪🏻

When your results define you, failure feels personal. Let’s change that.
We’ve all been there—tying our worth to a race result, a title, a finish line moment. But what happens when you fall short? When things don’t go as planned?
If your identity is wrapped up in your results, failure feels like proof that you’re not enough.
But what if your results are just data, not a definition of who you are.
The PR you missed, the race you didn’t finish, the goal you didn’t hit—it’s all just part of the journey. Just circumstances that you define the meaning to.
When you stop making your results mean something about you, you unlock the freedom to chase bigger goals without fear.

I’ve gotten the question “how have you had such a positive attitude since a DNF at Texas?” It’s because a race doesn’t define me. A race result never sets my worth. A race isn’t the most important thing in my life. A race result comes and goes. Does that mean I don’t care? NO! It means I care TOO much for a race to rock my confidence and life. I “get back on the horse” and keep moving FORWARD. We have regret when we dwell in the past and fear when we dwell in the future so I’m just making every moment the best moment and that will propel my future to the best future. Can’t wait for the next race. 🎉💨 And yes, it’s an addiction, especially in this weather 😍send to someone who needs to hear this! ❤️
First ever 1-2 in Monza, MEGA drive from both drivers!
Race result #ItalianGP 🇮🇹🏁 Max P1! 🏆, Checo P2 🏆, SAI, LEC, RUS, HAM, ALB, NOR, ALO, BOT. #F1
Endurance sport is all about consistency.
Behind every race result, there are countless hours of training, sacrifice, and discipline.
Two years ago , I trained day after day, balancing work, long hours, and weather that had nothing to do with comfort.
Some days weren’t about big rides, just showing up, even when it was tough. That’s what made this Bikepacking adventure possible.
Big up to everyone grinding in the shadows, chasing their goals and turning dreams into reality. 💪

You’re seeing the last 1%.
The race result.
The PB.
The smooth-looking stride.
What you don’t see is the other 99%:
• months of stacking 70–100km weeks
• tempo runs that felt awful until they didn’t
• learning how to fuel, recover, and not get injured
• turning up when motivation was nowhere to be found
My “success” took a years of average days done consistently.
No shortcuts.
No talent card.
Just showing up, adjusting, and doing it again.
If you’re in the middle of your own build — keep going.
The work compounds long before the results show.
