It turns out I knew barely a thing about Lisa Greenwell Hummel, a high school friend who graduated with me in 1988 from Punahou School in Honolulu, Hawaii. Lisa's family roots in Hawaii go back to 1850, when the first Greenwell arrived in the Islands and went on to help establish Kona coffee as a global brand. Lisa's charismatic father grew up a working cowboy on the Big Island, and boarded at Oahu College, as Punahou was then called. Lisa offers memories and very funny stories about growing up hiking barefoot in the mountains, paddling the ocean around Oahu, and bodysurfing, often by herself, the big waves at Sandy's. You'll also learn how Lisa was inspired by the Punahou arts program, and the perils of 1980s house parties.
