Thirman came back down last weekend for the end of the hunt season potluck. He shared a little about his experiences as a hunt mentor with the PA Game Commission and his first year mentoring at the refuge and at Ben Rush State Park. Spend 3 3 hours stalking into antelope, belly crawling, duck walking, freezing, playing red light green light with 7 does and 1 buck all for it to result in a long walk back to the truck 2025 hunting season reminded and humbled me how perishable of a skill “killing” is and how important training for that matters Take it from someone that knows shot process inside and out, has coached tons of people on improving their shot, has built systems to become a better bowhunter, hosted camps specifically designed around “lethality” and not missing when it matters… Yeah none of that means anything when you get so busy you don’t do it for yourself, this was me making the 2.5 mile walk back to the truck empty handed after sneaking in and missing at 36 yards I guided 200 days last year and got really good at “hunting” but “killing” I dropped the ball multiple times so be better than me I’m vouching to do my part this off-season, who’s with me? #thehuntingconsultant #huntingguide #bowhunting #lethalitytraining #explorepage

You’re breathing heavy, there’s a slight cross wind, you’re seated on the side of a hill at an awkward angle, and you squeeze the trigger un-phased. You make a perfect shot in imperfect conditions. These are the high angle, high altitude, long range shots that we prepare you for at our shooting class. Giving you the confidence to connect with your target in even the most demanding situations. There is no worse feeling than watching that buck walk away unscathed because you didn’t prepare properly. We’ve got a couple spots left in the class for this summer.
