Security researchers have discovered more than 300 Chrome extensions that leak browser data, spy on their users, or outright steal users’ data. #CyberShort #cyberawareness #cybercrimes
Cybercriminals are now disguising malware as AI-powered Chrome extensions. Over 30 malicious extensions — downloaded by more than 300,000 users — were found stealing: • Login credentials • Email content • Browsing activity • Sensitive business data These fake AI tools looked legitimate. They functioned like real extensions. But in the background, they were collecting data. ⚠️ If your browser is compromised, your entire business could be exposed. What you should do now: ✔ Review installed browser extensions ✔ Remove unknown or unnecessary add-ons ✔ Change important passwords ✔ Enable multi-factor authentication ✔ Monitor for suspicious activity With ESSC Security-as-a-Service, your business gets: ✅ 24/7 monitoring ✅ Threat detection ✅ Endpoint protection ✅ Proactive risk management Don’t trust every “AI tool” you see. Verify. Monitor. Protect. 🔎 Suggested Hashtags #CyberSecurity #ChromeExtensions #AIThreat #DataProtection #CredentialTheft #BusinessSecurity #EndpointSecurity #ThreatProtection #SecurityAwareness #ESSC
A high severity vulnerability was discovered in Chrome’s new Gemini Live in Chrome AI panel that could have allowed malicious extensions with basic permissions to hijack the AI side panel. Researchers found that a crafted extension could have injected code into the AI interface and gained access to cameras microphones screenshots local files and more before a fix was released. This highlights how emerging AI features that deeply integrate with browsers widen the attack surface and require careful security review and monitoring. Chrome and security teams responsibly disclosed and fixed the issue and organizations should remain vigilant about extension permissions updates and AI integrations in browsers. #CyberSecurity #BrowserSecurity #AIrisks #ChromeSecurity #ThreatResearch #GenAI #ExtensionSecurity #ResponsibleDisclosure #InfosecCommunity #SecureAI
Threat Alert — Malicious Chrome Extensions Multiple Chrome extensions have been caught stealing 2FA codes, business contact lists, analytics data, emails, and browsing history. Targets include Meta Business accounts, Gmail users, and VK users, with hundreds of thousands of installs across fake AI and productivity tools. Review installed extensions, remove unnecessary add-ons, and enforce extension controls in enterprise environments. #CyberSecurity #ThreatAlert #BrowserSecurity #DataProtection

02.25.2026: Google rolls out emergency updates for Chrome Broswer for high severity vulnerabilities. https://cyberpress.org/google-rushes-emergency-chrome-update/ #news #cybersecurity #tech #Google #hacker
Chrome Security Update – Why It Matters If you use Google Chrome for work or business, this is important. Google just released a major security update fixing 11 vulnerabilities, including several high-severity flaws that could allow attackers to execute malicious code on your computer. In simple terms? If left unpatched, someone could potentially use a compromised website to run harmful code on your system. One of the most serious issues was a “use-after-free” bug in Chrome’s CSS system. That sounds technical—but what it really means is attackers could exploit it to take control of parts of your browser. Other vulnerabilities affected video processing, graphics features, and browser components that handle web content. The good news? Google has already released the fix. The update is version 145.0.7632.45/46, and most browsers update automatically. But it’s always smart to manually check by going to Settings → About Chrome to make sure you’re protected. Here’s the bigger takeaway: Most cyberattacks don’t start with dramatic hacks. They start with outdated software. That’s why at TrueSecure powered by Seimitsu, we stay on top of every major vulnerability and security update—so our clients are protected before attackers can take advantage of them. We help businesses monitor updates, patch critical systems, and reduce exposure before small issues turn into major breaches. If you’re not sure whether your systems are up to date—or if your team is manually managing updates—let’s talk. 📞 Call 912-352-3689 💻 Visit TrueSecure.us Because staying secure isn’t about reacting to attacks. It’s about preventing them before they happen. #CybersecurityAlert #ChromeSecurity #SoftwareUpdates #BusinessCyberSecurity #VulnerabilityManagement

This is a tricky one. A Chrome extension meant to lay low for an hour after installation before locking up your browser, and upon restarting, show you a series of sneaky popups with the end goal of getting you to press some key commands which don’t fix the problem- they install malware. It’s CrashFix, a variant of ClickFix. Nice research by @huntresslabs !
