My favorite part about belonging to a community studio is the moral support I get from my fellow potters over at @echoceramics
Slow, deliberate, and direct movements in the studio. Getting ready for some soda and wood firings in the near future.
nothing much to say except i’m loving the warm evening in the pottery studio 🩷 . . . . . #artiststudio #wheelthrowing #handmademug
Back on the wheel throwing some more mugs. Each one begins the same way — a centered lump of clay — but somehow they all find their own character as the form rises. It’s the quiet rhythm of repetition that makes this part of the process so satisfying. #ofysmithpottery #MugMaking #WheelThrown #PotteryProcess #CeramicStudio StudioLife
Come glaze the most awkward pot in the world - 10 holes ain’t easy peasy Part 1 of 2
No filter - No edits - No sound over - Raw & Real ➡️ Three pulls to make a mug, 2min or less/mug. Practice makes perfect. Two years ago I wasn’t where I’m at today, yesterday, I wasn’t who I am today - it’s so important to reflect and be grateful for the silent hours of work we have all put in to be better in some aspect of our lives. We aren’t perfect, especially as artists. Embrace the hard, the heavy, and the grind. The work will follow suit. #ceramics #clay #pottery
Tough to stay in control of this soft clay. This vase will get its neck slightly altered and I’ll add a couple handles on its shoulder. Thanks for watching :)
Here are a few works in progress that I am stoked on. I’ve been working on overhauling my style and reassessing what it is that inspires me. Hope you can dig it! #pottery #ceramics #wheelthrown #potterystudio
It’s not just about the pottery. It’s about slowing down, getting creative, and sharing a table with some pretty great people. If that’s your vibe… you’re in the right place. 🐸
It took me three classes to be able to center the clay… around five to make an ugly, wobbly mug. And somehow, I was hooked. Next thing I knew, I was learning about glaze textures, firing temperatures, hand-building, and throwing until it felt like second nature. There’s something about working with our hands that pulls us in, slows time, and teaches us patience. If you ever get the chance to try, go. It might just change everything.
This bowl was a commission… but I got ghosted. I love getting commissions and people asking for things. Being able to create something they had in mind and working something together…. But I fear I can no longer take commissions anymore. I’m so grateful for anyone that has reached, this isn’t a shaming 😂 It’s motivated me to start a website. It seems the safe way to sell items for both buyer and seller. I might create a commissions option where maybe a deposit is required. Website launching soon!! #potterylove #wheelthrowing #commisionwork #wheelthrownceramics
Several projects in the works right now, but here are two mugs from last night’s studio session.
