watched the Artemis II launch live on NASA’s channel this morning and ended up putting this edit together :”)
still doesn’t quite sink in that after more than half a century, we’re finally on the path back to the moon! the first crewed mission back to kickstart a whole new era of lunar exploration. human ambition is a wonderfully relentless and strange thing. there’s something very surreal about witnessing a moment like this in real time. I hope that one day, I’ll get to see it in real life 🥹
congratulations @nasa @nasaartemis @nasakennedy #nasa #artemis #artemisii #space #youresa ♥️
After decades since Apollo missions, NASA is making history again with Artemis II—the first crewed mission of the Artemis program. This groundbreaking journey will send astronauts around the Moon, testing deep-space exploration systems and paving the way for future lunar landings.
Unlike past missions, Artemis II focuses on long-duration space travel, advanced technology, and preparing humans for Mars. It marks a new era where humanity steps beyond Earth once again.
🌌 What makes Artemis II special?
• First crewed mission of the Artemis program
• Astronauts will orbit the Moon and return safely
• Key step toward sustainable lunar exploration
• Future goal: Human missions to Mars

Artemis II live updates: Crew enters high Earth orbit, NASA says they are in 'great spirits'
https://abcnews.com/Technology/live-updates/artemis-ii-live-updates-window-launch-opens-today/
As of April 4, 2026, the Artemis II crew is on their third day of flight, confirming they are closer to the Moon than to Earth as they traverse deep space, according to NASA and various reports.
The Orion spacecraft is currently navigating toward its furthest point, aiming to loop around the Moon and return to Earth within approximately four days.
The crew has left Earth's orbit and has begun transmitting images of the Moon from their perspective, with the Earth appearing to shrink behind them.
This marks the first human journey to deep space in over 50 years, with the crew travelling roughly 250,000 miles to the moon.
