Split Pea & Lentil Soup If you haven’t checked your window lately, it’s winter. That means people are getting sick. Like me. I’m sick. And when I’m sick, all I want is a good, hearty soup. So today I made split pea soup. And you should too. Ingredients Extra-virgin olive oil 1 large onion, chopped 3 stalks celery, chopped 3 carrots, chopped 3 cloves garlic, chopped 1 1/2 cups dried split peas, rinsed 1/2 cup brown lentils, rinsed 2 bay leaves (optional) Salt and black pepper Fresh parsley Instructions Heat olive oil in a large pot and sautĆ© onion, celery, and carrots until soft. Add garlic and cook briefly. Stir in split peas, lentils, and bay leaves. Cover with water by a few inches, bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer. Cook until very soft and thick, stirring occasionally. Remove bay leaves, season with salt and pepper, and stir in fresh parsley. Serve it chunky and hearty as is, or blend with an immersion blender for a smooth, creamy traditional split pea soup.
✨Split Pea Soup🄣✨ A hearty & healthy soup perfect for the winter months! Cooked low and slow, I love how the peas break down and you get this thick & creamy bowl of comforting goodness! For extra flavour, I also added a Parmigiano Reggiano cheese rind to the soup. I never throws those out! Always add to my soups, stews, sauces etc but that is optional! Here’s my recipe! Save it, try it and tell me if you do! 15-Minute Frozen Pea Soup šŸ«›šŸ«›šŸ«› This is the soup I make when I need something fast, comforting, and satisfying. I’m not even much of a pea soup lover, but this one is on weekly rotation in my house. Swapping dried peas for frozen peas completely changed pea soup for me. It’s quicker, brighter, and honestly better. For kitchen items used in this recipe, comment ā€œlinksā€ and I’ll send the links over to your messagesšŸ˜‰ Core Ingredients * 1 (16-ounce) package petite frozen peas (I prefer petite peas—they’re sweeter and more tender) * 1 onion, chopped * 4–5 garlic cloves, chopped * 1 bunch cilantro, chopped (parsley works too) Pantry Staples * 3 tablespoons olive oil * 1 teaspoon black pepper * ½ teaspoon turmeric powder * About 8 cups water * 3 tablespoons consommĆ© or broth of choice Instructions 1. SautĆ© the aromatics
Heat the olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Chop the onion and garlic (I use my favorite kitchen gadget that does it in seconds) and add them to the pot. Cook until the onions are soft and translucent. 2. Build the soup
Add the frozen peas, black pepper, turmeric, water, and consommƩ (or broth). Stir to combine. 3. Bring to a boil
Leave the pot uncovered and bring the soup to a boil. While you’re waiting, chop the cilantro. 4. Blend to your liking
Once the soup is boiling, use an immersion blender or potato masher to blend. I like mine slightly chunky, not too creamy, so I blend for about 30 seconds. If you prefer it smooth, blend longer. 5. Finish and serve
Stir in the chopped cilantro and serve immediately. Notes * This soup gets better day after day, if it lasts that long. * It’s filling, comforting, and incredibly easy to keep on hand. * Perfect for busy nights, meal prep, or when you just need something warm and satisfying—fast. #sivanskitchen #peasoup #easyrecipe #explorepageًًً #instafood
