It broke me 🎥 The Florida Project Do you think The Florida Project is Sean Baker’s most heartbreaking film? Six-year-old Moonee spends her summer creating adventures with her friends at a budget motel near Walt Disney World. While the children transform their surroundings into a colorful playground, the adults around them face poverty and housing insecurity. Moonee’s young mother, Halley, struggles to keep them afloat as their situation becomes increasingly unstable. Motel manager Bobby quietly watches over the residents with compassion and concern. Directed by Sean Baker, the film contrasts childhood wonder with the harsh realities unfolding just beyond Moonee’s understanding. IMDb: 7.6/10 Rotten Tomatoes: 96% (Tomatometer), 81% (Popcornmeter) Letterboxd: 4.1/5 #TheFloridaProject #WillemDafoe #SeanBaker

🎥🎬: The Florida Project (2017) Six-year-old Moonee lives with her young mother, Halley, in a budget motel just outside Disney World. While the adults struggle with money, housing and an uncertain future, Moonee sees the world differently — turning ordinary days into adventures with her friends. Underneath the colourful buildings and endless summer days, however, Halley is struggling to keep a roof over their heads. With the motel manager, Bobby, quietly watching over the residents, the little family tries to survive one day at a time. Through Moonee’s eyes, the film reveals the innocence, imagination and resilience of childhood alongside the harsh reality of poverty. It is funny, heartbreaking and deeply human — showing how a child can find happiness even when life gives her very little. Sometimes the brightest childhood memories can come from the hardest places. 💔 🎬 The Florida Project — 2017 🎬 Directed by: Sean Baker 🎥 Produced by: Sean Baker, Chris Bergoch, Shih-Ching Tsou & Alex Saks ⭐ Starring: Brooklynn Prince, Willem Dafoe, Bria Vinaite & Valeria Cotto 🍿 Do you think Moonee understood how difficult life really was? The Florida Project (2017) captures the vibrant, sun-drenched wonder of childhood, but its true emotional weight culminates in this devastating climax. Watching Moonee run to her best friend’s door—overwhelmed, terrified, and unable to process the adult forces tearing her life apart—exposes the raw, heartbreaking reality of invisible struggles. ✨ The sheer weight of having your entire world uprooted before you're old enough to understand why is a quiet, suffocating kind of grief. For a child who spent her days finding magic in motel hallways, that sudden, tearful goodbye represents the end of an innocent era. It’s the moment a movie stops feeling like a story and becomes an unfiltered mirror of human vulnerability. True cinema doesn't always offer easy answers; sometimes, it simply holds space for the heartbreak we cannot voice. If you've ever felt the absolute weight of this scene, you know exactly how deep it cuts. Drop a 🤍 if this movie left a lasting mark on you. #TheFloridaProject #A24 #BrooklynnPrince #CinematicTension #MovieClips

For #BrooklynnPrince (Moonee)’s crying scene, the young actress thought they weren’t going to get the shot they wanted but, surprised herself when she was able to cry on cue. The scene was shot in one take and she and crew members cried on each others’ shoulder immediately after. • The Florida Project

The Florida Project (2017) Directed by Sean Baker, The Florida Project is a deeply human coming-of-age drama that follows six-year-old Moonee, who spends her summer exploring the colorful motels surrounding Walt Disney World. While the children experience the world as an endless playground, the adults quietly struggle with poverty, homelessness, and the impossible choices that come with surviving on society's margins. One of the film's greatest strengths is its perspective. Nearly everything is shown through the eyes of a child, allowing moments of joy, imagination, and adventure to exist alongside realities that young characters cannot fully understand—but the audience can. Willem Dafoe's acclaimed performance as motel manager Bobby provides one of modern cinema's most compassionate portrayals of everyday kindness. Shot on location in Florida using mostly first-time actors, the film blurs the line between fiction and reality, capturing a side of America rarely shown on screen. It received widespread critical acclaim and earned Willem Dafoe an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor. A heartbreaking reminder that childhood innocence can exist even in the harshest circumstances. #TheFloridaProject #TheFloridaProject2017 #SeanBaker #WillemDafoe #A24 DramaFilms ComingOfAge UnderratedMovies HiddenGems IndependentCinema MovieRecommendations Cinema FilmTok MovieTok Cinephile FilmCommunity AmericanCinema EmotionalMovies ClassicCinema

You’re my best friend… and maybe this is the last time I’m ever going to see you again.💔 At just six years old, Brooklynn Prince delivered one of the most heartbreaking performances in The Florida Project (2017). As Moonee says goodbye to her best friend Jancey, the scene captures something painfully real about childhood: sometimes you don’t fully understand that a goodbye might actually be forever. There’s no dramatic speech. No big explanation. Just two little girls trying to hold on to a friendship while their world is changing around them. 🥺 Prince’s raw, natural performance made Moonee unforgettable and earned her the Critics’ Choice Award for Best Young Actor, along with numerous other accolades and nominations. Some movie scenes entertain you. This one stays with you. 💔🎬 #TheFloridaProject #BrooklynnPrince #Moonee #MovieScene #HeartbreakingScene
