Her language didn’t just “suddenly” happen!
And no, she’s not speaking in full sentences or anything 😂
But I’ve definitely noticed a difference recently.
More sounds
More attempts
More connection
More understanding
And it’s been built in the everyday moments:
singing in the kitchen,
narrating what we’re doing,
letting her “help,”
making animal sounds,
and sometimes just pausing and waiting.
That pause matters more than people think.
None of it is fancy, it’s just consistent!
Save this for later if you’re in your toddler era 🤍

➡️Have you ever noticed your toddler is more likely to imitate the sound “moo” than the word “cow?”
👉🏻This is totally normal! As long as your little one is using the sound consistently, it even counts as word 💯
👉🏻There are even good reasons your little one is more likely to copy sounds than copy words ⤵️
⭐️Sounds are often easier to say. They are usually made of earlier developing sounds and simple syllable shapes (Think “sheep” vs “baa’)
⭐️Sounds are closely linked to what they stand for:Words are essentially symbols that may have nothing to do with what they stand for. Sounds, on the other hand, are easy to link with the object because it’s literally what they say 🙌🏻
⭐️ Sounds encourage copying: Imitation in a foundational skill for talking and sounds are the perfect way to get your little one copying you
🌈 Toddler speech secret ➡️ Sounds are building blocks for words. Little ones need the “mmm” sound to eventually say “mama”

Putting him to the test 👀🤣
So many people used to say 'I hope your child likes Disney as much as you do' and it's safe to say he's getting there 😅
& Yes he's obsessed with planes and helicopters if you couldn't tell 🤣 we sometimes talk about going on an airplane to see Mickey Mouse so maybe that's what he's getting on at but who knows 🤣🤣

Can I share a mindset shift that changes everything for toddler speech? 💬✨
When you’re playing with your child, the goal isn’t words.
Really it’s not.
The goal is connection 🤍
engagement 👀
and that back-and-forth moment where you’re actually with each other 🔁
Because words don’t grow from flashcards 🧠📇
they grow from shared smiles 😊
eye contact 👁️
turn-taking 🤝
and feeling safe and regulated 🫶
If a toddler isn’t engaged or regulated, speech won’t come no matter how hard you try. And that’s not a parenting failure. It’s biology 🌱
Start with the relationship 💛
then the interaction 🎲
the words will follow 🗣️✨
