š§ Ok wow! š¤ The "Heel Lock"... Never knew that. ā¼ļøšÆ
No but seriously. I need some suggestions that donāt break the bank but are also built for long distance runs.
I used to call @fleetfeet āthe best kept secret in townā back when I was just trying to survive my first mile. I thought it was just a running store. From helping me find the perfect running shoes and gear, to making me feel included in the running community, Iām grateful that Fleet Feet looks out for runners, no matter your fitness level, from beginner to elite.

āYouāve been sold the idea that you need a full rotation of running shoes⦠but you really donāt.ā
Scroll social media and it looks like everyoneās got 4, 5, 6 pairs on the go.
Different shoes for easy runs, sessions, long runsā¦
and it makes you feel like youāre doing something wrong if you donāt.
But hereās the reality.
Yes, there is research showing that rotating shoes can reduce injury risk.
But thatās mainly relevant if youāre running higher mileage, think 40km a week and above.
If youāre a beginner⦠or just building consistencyā¦
itās not necessary.
You do not need multiple pairs to get started.
Shoes are expensive.
And for most people, buying one good, comfortable pair is more than enough.
I ran for three years,
multiple half marathons, multiple marathonsā¦
with just one pair at a time.
Not by choice, just what I could afford.
And it worked.
Running is meant to be one of the most accessible sports there is.
Donāt let social media turn it into something expensive or overwhelming.
Start with one pair.
Build from there, if and when you actually need it.

š SHOE TEST: @altrarunning š
These are my go-to running shoes!
I was once told I might never run againā¦
Now I run pain-free.
They pass the shoe test ā
Which means my toes can actually spread and do their job.
That matters more than most people think.

Stop the friction, save your heels (and your toes). ššØ
If youāre finishing runs with raw heels or painful blisters on your big toe, your shoe isnāt the problem, your lacing is. Most runners ignore that extra eyelet, but itās the secret to the Runnerās Knot.
The āToe Bangā Problem: š«š¦¶
Blisters on the big toe happen when your foot slides forward inside the shoe. Every time you hit the pavement, your toe ājamsā or rubs against the front of the toe box. This constant friction leads to blisters and black toenails.
How the Runnerās Knot saves your toes:
⢠Ankle Anchor: It locks your heel into the back of the shoe so your foot stays put.
⢠Toe Room: By anchoring the ankle, you create a āsafety zoneā in the front of the shoe. Your toes can splay naturally without hitting the walls.
⢠Zero Slide: No forward movement = No āToe Bangā = No blisters.
Pro-Tip: š If you have wide feet and get side-toe blisters, the Runnerās Knot is a lifesaver because it allows you to keep the laces over your toes loose for extra room, while keeping the ankle tight for security.
Ad Tapering is the scariest time for many runners- random niggles, super fatigued what does it really mean?
Does it mean youāre marathon ready?
