Grade 6 IDU – Cool by Design
Through their interdisciplinary unit, Grade 6 students combined inquiry, collaboration, and real-world application as they explored sustainable design with Agribanana.
A powerful example of how learning connects across subjects and beyond the classroom. 💙
Thank you @agribanana

Hearing it from them says it all. 💚🌱
Our EcoAmbassadors shared how the EcoSchoolsNG programme has impacted them - from learning new skills to taking action at home.
This is more than a programme… it’s a journey that stays with them.

During the final semester of my IB Diploma at UWCSEA, I received the Go Make A Difference (GOMAD) Award to implement a project on decarbonising energy systems (DES) in schools in Mbeya, my home region. While preparing the application, I reflected deeply on how I could create meaningful impact in the communities that raised, shaped, and mentored me by applying the knowledge and values I had gained from my schooling in Singapore. One of the most influential lessons I learned was the importance of sustainability. This prompted me to think critically about how the continued reliance on fossil fuels disproportionately affects young girls and women in my country.
The DES project was not only about inspiring students but also about facilitating knowledge transfer and practical engagement. As part of the workshop activities, we produced briquettes; a lower-emission alternative to traditional charcoal using locally available materials including waste paper and rice husks. These materials, often regarded as waste, were transformed into a viable source of clean energy. The workshops were conducted in two schools that I previously attended: Mapambano Primary School and Mbeya Secondary School.
I am deeply grateful to the team from Clean Energy For All for their collaboration in implementing the project, as well as to the school administrations and students whose enthusiasm and participation brought vibrant energy to the workshops.
A full documentary of the workshop is available to watch on YouTube.

On February 27, 2026, the BLP Bamenda team hosted an interactive Eco-Club session at Government Bilingual High School Bayelle-Nkwen, drawing over 50 enthusiastic members. The program highlighted proper waste management, the vital role of reforestation and afforestation, the dangers of deforestation, types/causes of environmental pollution, and how these issues intersect with human rights and peaceful community living, empowering students with practical knowledge to drive sustainable change.
This impactful session advances BLP's mission to inspire 13,300+ youth across 24 schools in Cameroon and 15 in Sierra Leone, with 2,900+ saplings planted toward our 100-hectare restoration by 2028. We're nurturing eco-leaders who promote harmony and resilience.

I was asked what to expect… and here’s the truth 🌱
EcoSchoolsNG is about action.
It’s about young people learning, growing, and actually doing something for the environment.
And today, we get to see that impact come alive. 🎉💚

Our environmental education outreach continues to create meaningful impact.
We’re proud to see this initiative featured by the @ntanetwork, highlighting how students were introduced to the concept of turning waste into value through recycling and upcycling.
Through practical demonstrations and hands-on learning, students explored how responsible consumption and creative problem-solving can contribute to a more sustainable future.
At Innov8 Hub, we remain committed to developing young innovators who understand that meaningful progress must also be responsible.
Watch the feature and see how young minds are beginning to think differently about waste, sustainability, and innovation.

A few months ago, I had the opportunity to speak to students about single-use plastics and climate change.
One thing I strongly believe:
Changing behavior will always start with awareness.
Before people reduce plastic use, rethink waste, or take climate action, they need to understand the impact.
They need to see how single-use plastics connect to flooding, carbon emissions, and environmental sustainability.
Awareness may seem small.
But it is where every meaningful shift begins.
The conversations continue.
