Vicente Luque at one point really looked like he could become a Welterweight champion. He is so complete with super heavy hands, precision and accuracy in his very high-level combinations, and a serious ground game. Like most fighters with a heavy background in Jiu Jitsu, he isn't the best at takedowns and wrestling in general but me really makes up that lack with some awesome athletic scrambling. He went 14-3 in his first 17 fights in the promotion and was a serious finisher, knocking out Belal, Jalin Turner, Bryan Barbarena, Randy Brown, and submitting great grapplers like Tyron Woodley, Niko Price, and Michael Chiesa. Sadly he has gone on a tough streak recently, going 1-3 in his last 4 fights despite being a favorite in all of them. At one point Luque came in as a -1200 favorite against Derrick Krantz who isn't amazing but still having odds like that show how dominant you can be. Anyways, for the first time in his career in the promotion, Vicente Luque is going into this fight with Themba Gorimbo as an underdog, so there really isn't any experience to pull from on how Luque has performed as an underdog. Still insane that someone can be in the promotion for almost ten years and never come in as an underdog, That's some legendary stuff right there. . . . . . . #mma #ufc #ufc310 #ufclasvegas #ufcvegas #muaythai #mixedmartialarts #kickboxing #karate #boxing #vicenteluque #thembagorimbo #shavkatrakhmonov #mmastriking #jiujitsu #grappling #wrestling #knockout #highlights #onechampionship #rizin #strikeforce #wec #pfl #bellator #karatecombat

I’ve always liked watching Vicente Luque fight.❤️ He’s one of those guys that never really cared about playing it safe. Just always shows up ready to go, whether it’s a war on the feet or scrambles on the ground. He’s been in there with a lot of tough names over the years too, and you can tell he earned everything the hard way. No shortcuts, just tough fights and consistent performances. And that’s why fans respect him. You know you’re getting a real fight every time he steps in there. He might not always get the spotlight, but guys like Luque are what make the sport what it is. For sure one of those fighters people will look back on and appreciate even more. #VicenteLuque #UFC #MMA #FightLife #MentalConquers

This was such a banger of a fight if you haven't seen it please watch it I'm pretty sure it's on youtube or something. Anyways I think it was crazy to see Stephen Thompson fight the way he was in this fight because he had pretty much just come off of the first time he had ever been finished in his pro career by Anthony Pettis via superman punch. It was such a terrible thing to watch but also so sick coming from Pettis. He didn't just take it easy in this fight and try to coast to a decision win, in fact he fought more actively and harder than he had in a lot of other fights he had fought in before. Usually with these karate guys, they tend to be counter strikers and like to wait for their opponent to attack and then respond to it. That's why Thompson himself said a fight between him and Michael Venom Page would almost certainly be a pretty boring fight because they aren't the type to be the ones to initiate much in a fight. They're more point fighters with explosivity and strength behind their shots which makes it fun to watch against a guy like Luque who has definitely more of a Muay Thai fighting style. . . . . . . . #mma #ufc #ufc310 #ufclasvegas #ufcvegas #mixedmartialarts #muaythai #karate #stephenthompson #vicenteluque #nickdiaz #kickboxing #boxing #shavkatrakhmonov #iangarry #pfl #bellator #karatecombat #rizin #alexandrepantoja #bkfc #conormcgregor #wec #strikeforce

This was Jalin Turner's debut in the promotion and it happened to be against prime Luque who was on the run of a lifetime. At the time he was 6-2 in the promotion while Jalin Turner was 7-3 as a pro MMA fighter. This was his second biggest fight as a favorite at -855. Still a lot less than his fight against Derrick Krantz where he went into the fight as a -1200 favorite. Luque is 2-0 as an underdog in the promotion. The first time he came in as a +110 underdog against Rafael Dos Anjos which he won and then he came in as a +125 underdog against Themba Gorimbo. Right now Luque is a +215 underdog against Kevin Holland which will be the largest underdog fight he has had in his career. Looking back Jalin Turner only lost to amazing fighters. He went 7-6 in the promotion. Those 6 losses were Luque, Frevola, Gamrot, Hooker, Moicano, and Bahamondes. . . . . . . . #mma #ufc #Ufc316 #ufc317 #mixedmartialarts #vicenteluque #jalinturner #merabdvalishvili #seanomalley #muaythai #kickboxing #boxing #karate #taekwondo #mmastriking #jiujitsu #wrestling #grappling #bjj #onechampionship #pfl #karatecombat #rizin #wec #strikeforce

LUQUE EM EVOLUÇÃO! Em ação no UFC Rio, neste sábado (11), Vicente Luque comentou que teve que ir ajustando o seu jogo, mas trazendo de volta o que sempre foi a sua marca, a agressividade. O meio-médio vai encarar Joel Alvarez no card principal. 🎥 @reduayago | @lutas360oficial #ufc #ufcrio #vicenteluque #mma #boxing #boxe #jiujitsu
